> 3 dayPicked one of these printers up because I wanted a printer in my family room, where I do most of my computer work. Most of what I looked at seemed to be a few metal parts and lots of cheap plastic. When I picked up the HP Envy printer, I immediately felt the difference. Heavy and solid construction. The looks of the printer are unlike any other I have seen. It looks more like a DVD player than a printer. It fits into my living area, while other printers looked like office equipment - not what I wanted in my family room. Unboxing the unit showed that the packaging was high quality and the printer had its own bag keeping it safe from scratches. Hookup consisted of plugging in the electric cable and turning the printer on. From there, the printer guided me through the setup, including telling me when to insert the ink cartridges and how to set up the wireless connection. The only thing I needed to have was my network security password, as I have a secured Wi-fi network. Connected to the network 1st time after I keyed in the password. Installing the software on my computer was quick and easy. No surprises, but HP does load their installation with a bunch of junk you probably dont want. Just deselect anything you dont want installed. Everything works fine. Usual good quality prints and scans. The printer found some firmware updates and asked me if I wanted them installed. I did and they went in without any problem. Same for an update to the computer software for the printer. This printer uses two ink cartridges - black and a color. I like this approach as the cartridge design has the print heads in the cartridge. Change inks and you get a new print head each time. I have used several other brands of ink jet printers that have permanent print heads as part of the printer. These always tend to clog for me, over time. With the HP cartridge design used here, I have never had bad prints, or clogged print heads on the other Photo printer I have from HP. Ive also used HP inkjets at work for years and they just print - day in and day out. Some find a benefit to having separate ink cartridges for each color. Ive had two printers with this arrangement and found that I was replacing the various colors at about the same time. The extra parts just amounted to extra things that could go wrong, and added cost. The HP Envy printer has some neat features like the touch screen and the retractable paper catcher. While neat features, they seem to be likely problem areas down the road (after the mfg warranty expires), so I bought an extended warranty on the printer - giving me 4 years of coverage. Hope this printer works long term as good as it looks out of the box. HP did a great design job, integrating an office device into a home environment.

> 3 dayAfter updating from a HP to a Lexmark then two Kodak printers which were nightmares , I went full circle to this printer and its been fabulous . Works every time even with a wireless connection. fit and finish is fantastic. My only gripe is the E-fax , I wish this had a conventional fax.

Greater than one weekI will be honest that my experience with this machine is extremely limited. To wit: I in fact never printed anything with it. I attempted a scan, with limited success. I was able to boot the machine up without too much difficulty, and was able to find it on the wireless network with little trouble. Shortly afterwards, it gave me a message to download updates. No problem. After it rebooted, it gave me a another update message. While initiating an attempt to download this update, the machine lost the wireless connection. After that it attempted to update forever. I was unable to find any way of fixing this doing troubleshooting on my own. I called HP support and I will say their support was rather helpful, but in about 5-10 minutes they came to the conclusion that my purchase was now a rather large paperweight, not a printer/scanner/anything truly functional. They sent me a replacement that arrived in a few days. I purchased the machine roughly 8-9 months after initial release. I found customer reviews on other websites that described similar problems with similar resolutions. I rate the machine so low as it appears that no resolution is forthcoming from the company, and I needed the machine to last as long as possible - not for the 3 years I can get covered through an extended warranty! Rather the replace the machine every so often after a failed update, I just chose to return it and get something completely different. EDIT 2/19/12 TO clarify the above: The unit I purchased died about 45min out of the box. Based on my review of other customer reviews, this appears to be the result of a defect intrinsic to all like units. I purchased the unit several months after initial release, and several months after other customers had posted regarding this issue. HPs customer service was excellent, insofar as they shipped a replacement after one of their reps had done trouble-shooting with me over the phone and declared it deceased. However, this was not adequate for my purposes as the defect appears to be present in all units, the defect (if it occurs) destroys the unit, and the only redress available several months after product release is to replace the unit under warranty. Once the warranty runs out (I had a 2 year extension) then you must purchase a completely new unit. For me, that was a deal breaker. I felt that a different solution should be available this far after release. So HP either cannot or will not correct this defect. EDIT 7/20/13 In case people are not clear on the defect I am describing, if the machine experiences any interruption while attempting to perform a software update in terms of the wireless connection or power outage, then it will remain frozen in an attempt to update whenever it is turned on and is not functional and cannot be fixed unless completely replaced.

> 3 dayThe touch screen that is supposed to be used to set up the printer did not work. We spent over an hour with HP helpline (from India). Amazon agreed to take the printer back for credit but charged 20% re-stocking plus shipping costs. We lost $50 and decided to stop buying stuff from Amazon.

> 3 dayI like this HP Envy 110 e-All-in-One Printer. Strange the heading as I write this says Brown, because its black. It has a nice, compact footprint for an all-in-one, that I find very attractive. I use a Mac, and havent had any problems on that front. The printing looks great, the scanning works great. At first, you wonder where the controls are to edit the scanning parameters, but it turns out there is a little application in the folder that gives you that. I had to call HP to ask though. I didnt see it in the documentation, though I could be wrong. There are a lot of parameters in general, that you can access using the printers touch screen. Honestly, I havent even experimented much with it, but I saw them. Im very satisfied with this purchase and Ive had it for a few months now. Adding on... I have had this printer for quite a while now. I am removing a couple of stars. One is for the crappy software interface on the Mac, and one is because HP does NOT like people using remanufactured ink cartridges and badger you with warnings, and by telling you it is empty when it is not, and sometimes by not working until you unplug and plug back in the printer. This has me pretty pissed off, if you havent guessed. So if you like using their exorbitantly priced ink, then you can add the two stars back on. It prints and scans just fine.

23-11-2024If the printer has not been used for a while it will drop the network connection. What I mean by a while is one or two days. The solution is to unplug the router for a few seconds then restart the router. The printer will then be on the network. I have ckd various blogs and this problem is pretty consistent. I would not recommend this printer.

> 3 dayI have owned this for several years now. Never a problem printing, copying or scanning. Looks like a fine piece of equipment on my desk. It does so much more than print, copy and scan, but I have no use for the other functions. You can fax from it, and it communicates with iPhone and iPad well. To be honest, I really dont avail myself of all its features. If you are like me, you might want to forgo the bells and whistles. Also, even on the most efficient settings, it uses a lot of ink. The ink is not refillable so be prepared to buy new ones each time. It also doesnt do well unless you are buying the genuine HP ink.

> 3 dayMy daughter had ordered an Envy about a year ago on a special and got a great deal. She suggested I go for the Brown which was a newer model, but it was pretty pricey. So, I found one that was rebuilt and took a chance and it has been working just fine. I didnt have too much hassle setting it up and once I got it going I loved it immediately. The display is amazingly easy to see and in color. It is back lit so light is never an issue when reading the menu like my old one. I like the compactness of it when it is not in use- everything folds back automatically when the printed sheets are removed and the paper is in a tray that slides into the printer and is never visible. I like its sleek design and copper Brown trim. I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone.

> 3 dayPrinter worked well although the touch pad was a little temperamental. Loved the fax capability. Size is great and it looks good. Was scanning a photo when it made a horrible grinding noise and then everything quit. Had it almost 12 months. I always purchased HP, but now Im going with something else. A bit of a disappointment. Cartridges are expensive.
