I did a lot of debating on getting the Core i5 vs the core i7. In the end I decided that the i5 would be plenty for my workload and I truly believe that I made the right choice. My new matebook is replacing a 5 year old Asus zenbook as my new daily driver. I primarily use my laptop for web development (coding), light Photoshop editing and day to day web browsing. Packaging 3.5/5: Box arrived undamaged and appropriately marked for the ordered product. Packaging is solid with adequate padding for the product. Packaging is lack luster as far as style and doesnt provide much of a wow factor during the unboxing. Included accessories 5/5: For a $899 laptop I am quite pleased with the quality of the power cable with a small brick and detachable cable. They include a USB C hub that works as a charging pass through and gives you lots of options for display out. The added bonus of Microsoft office for a year is also a nice touch. The device externals 4.5/5: Ive used lots of different laptops and never really felt the wow factor this one has. The device is very thin and light, great to pack in a backpack. The device has limited flex and feels solid. The hinges are a little tough when opening (not doing it one handed) the laptop up however hold the screen perfectly when using the touch screen. The device internals 5/5: As mentioned before I ordered the core i5 model. The display is absolutely stunning! I really think the 1440p 3x2 display with touch is the perfect display for a small laptop. The touchscreen is fast and responsive and seems to be somewhat resistant to fingerprints. The quad core CPU is snappy and flys through my workload in Photoshop and my text editors, the CPU stays pretty cool (sub 70c) and the majority of the time the fans stay off. The SSD is fast and does its job (I havent done any tests on it so I dont know numbers however its more than quick enough). The Intel integrated graphics do a good job, obviously they are not the same as the dedicated graphics in the i7 model however the benefits of the battery life make it a better option for me. Battery life is pretty darn good and Ive had no issues with it. As a summary I highly recommend this laptop for anyone looking for a great value Ultrabook. I can see this being perfect for any student or professional!

I did a lot of research before deciding on the MateBook 13 to replace my old Surface 2. I wouldve purchased the MateBook X Pro, but the MateBook 13s balanced specs and price really appealed to me. Ive been using the MateBook 13 for a week now and I can honestly say that its the best laptop for under $1000 (I got the i5). The silver color is very sleek and the metal is of high quality finishing, yet its very lightweight at only 2.8 lbs. I can really feel the difference it makes when I dont have to carry a heavy laptop in my purse. It fits perfectly in my work purse because its the same size as 8.5x11 paper. I also like that its a 13 inch laptop with a screen that feels like a 14 inch and a full-size keyboard. It also makes a huge difference to type on a nice chiclet keyboard, and Ive been very productive on it. The package comes with a dongle with USB and HDMI ports that you normally have to purchase separately, but Huawei threw it in for free. I also activated the one free year of Office 365. These are worth like $150 that Huawei threw in for free. So when comparing this $850 laptop with other laptops in the same price range, the MateBook 13 rocks. My only complaint is that the battery is just enough for one day of work at about 8 hours (Huawei claims that the battery lasts 10 hours), but I think the overall quality makes up for it.

I only kept this for a day or so before deciding it wasnt worth the money (for my uses anyway) and returning it. The specs of the machine are in this weird middle ground where theyre not very good for most gaming but are way overpowered for anything else Id use it for. There were good things about it though. The build quality is very high and the screen is beautiful. I really liked the extended height of the screen, especially on a laptop this size. It made the web browsing experience much better than on any small 13:9 ratio screen. The screens touch functionality also felt responsive and smooth. The laptop looks very sleek overall. However, it runs quite hot and the fact that the entire outer casing is metal made that extra problematic when using it in my lap, which is how I use laptops most of the time. It became very uncomfortable very quickly, even when not running anything demanding. So basically, it might be the perfect laptop for someone else but it just didnt suit my needs at all and for that price, it wasnt worth it.

Ive been looking at this 13inch Ultra-book for a few months and Im glad I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy it. Ill start off with the Pros 1)The fit and finish is top notch. Huawei really knows their stuff. The aluminum construction is as good if not better than my last Macbook Pro. I have the grey color and I think it is superior than Apples Space Grey. The thickness of this Ultra-book is thinner than my Macbook Pro. The screen is not wide-screen but I actually prefer it to the Macbook. The key layout is perfect and key travel is superior to Apples. The track pad is just as good as the Mac-book Pro which was something I was not expecting and certainly the best of any PC track pad I have ever used. 2) The screen is just straight up brilliant. The 2160x1440 resolution is to put it simply just amazing. What a difference it makes compared to 1920x1080. If comparing it to my Macbook Pros retina display this definitely beats it. Images and video are a joy to see. I know some say the brightness is a concern but I just dont see it. Its very bright; I believe some just dont know how to turn off the auto-dimming feature of Windows 10. If you have auto dimming enabled the brightness of the screen (even though turned up all the way) will still reduce if viewing in a dark room. Its certainly not a fault towards the Ultra book. Once I turned that off it defaults to the highest brightness level and its very bright and crisp. The touch screen works as intended and its very accurate; No problems in this department... 3) The 8th generation I7 is insanely fast. I can game on moderate video settings, use adobe photo shop and program at lightening speeds thanks to the dedicated MX150 card but if youre gaming on high resolutions youll run into problems as the dedicated card is not really used for gaming but it certainly does well for everything else. 4) This Ultra-book is very light which is nice for everyday use when you have to travel with it. Its great for using in bed or on the couch. Fits nicely on the counter while watching movies as you cook and read recipes etc. The included 8GBs of memory is all you need unless you require a zillion programs open and running at the same time but Its more then sufficient to run several programs at once, even resource demanding applications. 5) Battery life is great even on highest brightness level (around 6 hours), yes it would be nice to have 8-12 hours of battery but I find most claims on battery life are inflated anyway and its really not a problem for me as everywhere I go when needing to use it over 6 hours I have access to a wall plug. To each their own in this regard. Cons: The only con I have with this Ultra-book; And Im not too concerned about, is that depending on what youre doing (resource demanding tasks or gaming) it can heat up a bit if you have it on your bed or in your lap but if its on a flat surface i.e a desk it never heats up to the point it becomes uncomfortable. You need to give (as with almost all laptops) the air ducts under the laptop the ability to draw in fresh air. If you do use it on your lap and all youre doing is perusing the internet and doing light work then the thermals are absolutely acceptable and not noticeable. Also Im really pleased with Amazons attempt at next day delivery. I received this laptop the next day. I ordered a travel pouch the day I got my Huawei and that also delivered the very next day. I forgot to mention...; Amazon also gave me the option to use installments for the Huawei, so the first payment was 280 and then the next 4 is 220 and then 180 something for the last month. Very easy on the budget and no interest. Amazon is doing great things. Heck I pretty much do all my shopping now on Amazon, even my cloths lol. Aight peace...

Edit to review: Huawei replaced my broken laptop in less than a week! That was very fast and again, the computer is fast and working like a charm. This thing is fast! That was one of the biggest reasons I decided to get this computer. The touch screen is receptive and I had no problems with it. The track pad was good too. Worked great for photo editing, although the screen is quite small for that purpose. Oterwise the small size was great, fots perfect into my camera backpack. Unfortunately, afyer a few weeks of use the wifi (network, also bluetooth) hardware started acting up. I was in contact with huawei support for a couple of times and they were really helpful. I got instructins what to try and when it didn work I sent the computer back because it was under warranty. They said it shouldnt take more than 7-10 days to get fixed. I thin that is reasonable, and I think my hardware issue does not reflect the quality of this computer as a whole. At least that is my hope and online forums are not full of complaints which usually means that the problem is not common.

I have had the matebook 13 for a little over a month now and I have had nothing but an great experience with it. The power this small laptop packs is amazing I have a MSI gaming lap top that I have to keep the power source plugged up to it cause the battery life on it is terrible I can get maybe 2 hours out of it if Im lucky, but with the Matebook 13 I dont have that kind of problem on a full charge the battery last me at least 6 hours depending on what Im doing but the good thing is it only takes like 15 minutes to get enough power for 3 hours of use. The touch screen works great just make sure to keep a micro fiber cloth with you cause it does attract finger prints, the brightness is great as well at first I thought that 300 knits was not enough but if you are not outside in direct sun light then it is bright enough for me, battery life I would say is a 8 out of 10, its good enough to get me through the day without needing to recharge. I would recommend the matebook 13 for sure to anyone that wants a small portable laptop that has enough power to do just about anything .

This was a replacement of Lenovo T450s which was a reliable workhorse. My decision was based on the comments made in CES 2019. The first impression about the machine is very high. It feels very solid. After two days of usage, there are some small items that could be better. These are partially based on comparison to MacBook Pro. - The lid cannot be opened with one finger. The other hand is required to keep the machine down. - The scratch pad is not fully working for me. There are either missing actions or phantom actions. I have tried the Windows 10 settings without total satisfaction. - The cooling intake holes at the bottom of the machine are in area that is not available when you are using the machine on your belly. In that case the machine becomes quite warm/hot - There is some slack in the screen hinge. The screen is not staying open as solidly as it should. I am very pleased with the picture quality and the computing performance. I didnt activate the free MS Office option due to concern that I have to pay later. EDIT: I am back with the T450S because first the power cable stop to work and then with the heavier USB-C to USB-C cables the connector broke. The corner of the base broke off, the charging connection was unreliable, and in the end the charging did work only occasionally. NO HUAWEI for me in future.

Using this notebook for a month, design, and layouts (screen, keyboard, indicators, and camera) are great over the previous generation. Many co-workers were misidentified it as a MAC book. By looking at the price, function, and portability, it is a very good choice. I am using it for regular business and watching videos some time (not a heavy use or intense game). -Now, WEBcam is placed on the right place (top of the screen), no more weird pose -Scree ratio and resolution are fantastic (very slim bezel), and like the screen ratio better than other brands (more narrow in vertical). Easier to work on a presentation or Word. -Worried about small (13.3inch) with high resolution, but, each character is clear and easy to read -Touch screen works well -Very quiet and quick charging capability (through USB-C port), no issue to using it a full day (getting 7-10 hrs). However, battery life could be better than other brands -Overall size is smaller (shorter in width), and easy to carry -Hinges are strong and no issues so far -Bluetooth connection: no issues so far -eigh is ok, but, a little heavier than LG Gram 13 -Only provide two USB-C ports and an- earphone port. An extra UBS 3.1 port could be nice -The screen can be tilted about 135 degrees, not 180 degrees. I do not need 108 deg, but, some may want to have -Since I did not have any technical issues, so, I did not contact the Huawei service team. A pre-installed Huawei PC manager is working correctly and making the system up-to-dated.

I bought this to replace my 6 yr old 11 MacBook Air. The 3x2 aspect ratio makes this 13 Huawei narrower but deeper; all the extra processor power and fans also makes it heavier, a noticeable difference when picking it up with one hand. The keyboard feels as good as the Mac; display is sharp and clear when the color profile is tuned; but my elderly eyes found the 2160x1440 native resolution too sharp and fine, Ive adjusted it down a little. Its real fast booting up (altho I have to confess I wiped the Windows sysytem and am running Linux). Cooling fans dont make any noise until I start doing serious video rendering. Tip from many years of using laptops: when not on a flat table, at home I use a tray of plywood, or stiff corrugated cardboard, with four feet on top, one inch square, three eighths inch thick, to hold the laptop up and allow air circulation underneath. Sound from speakers is clean, but speakers pointing downwards are a little quieter than the Mac. The lid is a bit tight; I cant open it with one hand; but so was my MacBook Air when new; hopefully this will loosen up after some use. Overall build quality and performance would have cost me 40% more in an equivalent MacBook. Main gripe so far: the Huawei logo on the lid is solid metal standing up about 0.2mm with sharp edges; it just feels ugly and will probably chew a hole in the carry case lining...

My review about one month in after purchase...I have not been asked to review. I bought this for personal use and to sync with my business laptop for occasional use. I use it for web surfing, music, amazon selling and business / personal emails. I absolutely LOVE this machine. There is one drawback and so many advantages. Graphics: Top notch, incredible. Processing Speed: Extremely fast - love it. Typing: the clicks and keystrokes are amazing. Maybe my favorite part. LOVE the way it sounds and responds! Weight: incredible, feels just slightly more than my IPad. Touchscreen: Wow, yes! highly responsive and makes may daily tasks more fun. USB Ports: Lacking time, but easily solved with $2.00 adapters - easily solved. Sound/Speakers: Good-great, syncs VERY easily and in seconds to bluetooth devices Overall frame feel/look: Extremely high quality feel and beautiful, beautiful look. Im an average dude, that uses this device 3-4 hours each day for both business and personal use - I researched for weeks..I am very, very happy with my purchase and highly recommend. Best of Luck! Will
