I bought this so I could download upgrades in the house. I use it on my 798 and my 597 units. I can practice using my units in the comfort of my house instead of running outside and hooking the units up to the boat. Very convenient.

just what i needed

Used this to rig up a power feed so I could play with my Humminbird 999ci indoors. Hooked it up to my portable battery pack using a 12v plug and 3 amp fuse. Works like a camp. Now I can watch videos and learn to use this baby.

Although this item is pricey, it allows me to use a VERY expensive side scan sonar unit on two boats--avoiding the cost of a second finder.
