> 3 dayI have a Contax G2 and was looking for a nice B&W 400 ASA film. In the 80s I shot and developed a lot of Tri-X and came to appreciate the nice quality and fine grain. The HP5 seems to recreate that feeling but with more contrast. It has lots of dynamic range so it is forgiving for some challenging lighting situations. It gives that high contrast look and can compress the background just a bit. I find myself narrowing my depth of field to add depth. Some folks may not like the grain of this faster film, but I love it. Took some photos of Paris in the winter and a few shots on set in Ireland. I was very pleased with the results. Attached photos shot at 400 ASA with a Contax G2 with a 2.8 28MM lens auto metering.

> 3 dayGreat film. I generally purchase this in 50 rolls, which I spool into 36 exposure canisters. I purchase this film, as the pre-loaded canisters are more sturdy and less likely to open that the reusable type, which can important insurance. I also like that HP5 is available in a variety of formats, so I can expect consistent results across my 35mm and 4x5 cameras.
