I got this as a gift for my girlfriend and she is hooked on it. Shes taken French in school and was brushing up on her fluency. Needless to say, shes hooked. Cant get her away from it. Plays for hours at a time. I also have Spanish and Chinese and find them to be extremely helpful and useful in learning the languages. Pennies on the dollar compared to Rosetta Stone and just as good.

Since the software doesnt teach you how to conjugate, I use google translate to comprehend what I am learning, instead of memorizing phrases; anyway the software is teaching me that Where is the shop? is Ou se trouve le magasin. From studying some of the phrases, I noticed that is, is usually est and that google translate confirmed my concern by translating the same pharse to: Ou est le magasin. Are the French simplfying their language or is this software negligence?

This is not a coherent language course. Rather it is a collection of random bits of old software, some dating back as far as 1996, thrown into a box. Not all of the disks work on my mac. The ones that do work seem to offer little more than vocabulary lists and quizzes. I didnt try all the disks because the ones that I did try seemed to be pretty much a waste of time. (To study vocabulary I would rather read a book than plod through clunky old software.) And the package as a whole seems to be a waste of money. There are much better french learning resources available for free online. Im giving it two stars instead of one because there might be something useful on some of the disks that I didnt try after giving up.

I was taking French in college and needed some extra help- this was exactly what I was looking for! Great deal on some great content!

I got this software as a gift about a month ago, and let me tell you, it was one of the best gifts Ive ever recieved! The thing that most people forget is that this is not Rosetta Stone. Its called Immersion for a reason. One of the best ways for an adult to learn a language is to be surrounded by it, i.e. immersed. For me, I found the software very easy to use. I especially like the fact that I can put some lessons on my Ipod and take them with me when I go to the gym. Definitely makes working out less monotonous! I also like the DVD game. Its very fun, and my little brother even likes playing it too. So, if youre wanting to learn any language, Instant Immersion is definitely worth every penny.

Disappointed in this product. 1)Hard to load on computer. 2)It does not say the items in English so you must sit at the computer and read the words in English while they are said in French. It would be much better if the phrases were said in both languages aloud.

Should have read the fine print as this product does not function properly with Windows 7. Partway through Level 2, the PC reported problematically huge memory use (my PC has 9 GB RAM)! While playing and recording my pronunciation, the machine repeatedly stopped functioning rendering the program useless beyond that point. Each disc is a separate program to be installed and that disc must be inserted to run the program. Very old fashioned style graphics and interface. Learned some vocabulary but thats about it. It may play better on a Windows XP machine.

I have been using this program for a week now and am totally into it. Its actually fun and amusing. I was debating buying Rosetta Stone for a few months but was nervous to spend that much money without knowing what it was like. I thought for $20 I will give Instant Immersion a try and can say now, that I would definitely pay more than $20 something dollars. It really works and is helping me remember a lot from the french lessons I took a few years ago. I have a MACbook and unlike the other review I can say that I have had no problem with this program. I have tried using workbooks and lessons and flash cards for quite some time and none of it is as effective as this has been in a matter of days.

I just purchased this and tried to run it on my relatively new MacBook (Intel Core 2 Duo)
