Greater than one weekJust avoid this cpu all together unless youre a fanboy or stuck on anything older than 4th gen. Both i5 and i7 here on a rtx 3080. Gaming is pointless on this cpu and its just a fact. In 1440p and 4k u gain absolutely nothing over my old 10700k. Except for horrible Temps. This will average Temps at least 10c higher then previous Intel or my ryzen 5900x. And worst part is Intels unnecessary change in cpu cooler layout. U will spend weeks finding a cooler or trying to get manufacturer to send u a bracket to update existing cooler. Literally had to return my first one I purchased from best buy because I couldnt even find a cooler within the 15 day return policy and didnt want stuck with a DOA product. And the fact AMD is already releasing ryzen 3d which surpasses this by 20% it makes this jump to Intel again pointless. Because we all know Intel will change socket and layout again leaving us stranded again with no cooling options. Worse part. Not even a cooler in box to test cpu with. Had to buy a hideous noctua as it was only thing I could get my hands on that fit

> 3 dayUpgraded from an i5-7500. Have been considering whether should go for AMD or Intel for this upgrade and finally decided to give an Intel a try after reading the positive reviews of the Alder Lake.

> 3 dayThis CPU has a lot going for it, wether your getting into 12th Gen for its impressive gaming performance or not overwhelmingly expensive prices, this cpu will definitely put the power you need into the system your building & with the right cooler you will never have to worry about this chip getting beyond 40-50c under load with its factory tune. By far one of best decisions i made when i build my friends first pc this year.

> 3 dayI undervolted the CPU -0.12 offset which lowered core package from 73c to 62c at 141W in Cinebench R23 for 22957 score (which is average for a 12700k). Watched videos from JayzTwoCents and The Tech Thing Guy on undervolting. One thing that you WILL run into if you plan on liquid cooling with any of the big brand AIOs is that they all say LGA 1700 compatible but none of them actually ship with the LGA 1700 bracket for some reason, you have to turn around and contact the company and theyll send you a free bracket in 2-6 weeks. Thats why I ended up getting the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 (which turned out to be amazingly great, check the review on Gamers Nexus), because you can buy the free LGA 1700 bracket for $7 here on Amazon and skip all the hassle/delay of getting one sent for free afterwards.

> 3 dayIm a first time builder, and Im working with this CPU, it overheat 3 times in bios when i first started out. Overheats on cinebench and some games that push it to about 40% CPU usage. There are work arounds but as a first time builder i would have preferred to not have to deal with that. Nevertheless, at least Ive experienced dealing with a chip that runs very hot.

> 3 dayFast and great CPU! If you are just strictly going to game just go with the i5! But I do both game and editing so this is a great CPU to start with.
