Great for dye process

Color was beautiful! Research how to do this if you have never done this before! All ingredients are needed for the correct outcome. I had to order my ingredient twice because I didnt know I needed other items to go with this. There are no directions on the package of dye itself.

I like it. Ive used the box kind for a while and like it. The issue I have it maintaining the soda ash ph balance with this stuff. I also dont get the metallic appearance on top after the first dye or two, which is typically my indication that its still good for dyeing items. If you indigo dye, you know that while the water may remain blue, when the flowers on top of the dye disappear, along with the metallic look, it tends to become a weaker dye. Items look more baby blue than indigo. :)

I wish I had understood that this dye was synthetic rather than from a plant when I bought but I am still very happy with the dye itself. Directions from jacquard website are good enough to get going but I could wish for better information. Try not to get the flower on whatever youre dyeing.It makes that part look much more gray-ish. Since I dyed both flour sack towels and some yardage for quilting, I found the gray effect to be interesting, even if it wasnt what I wanted and now I know better. I only needed one minute submerged to get a great color. The first 2 photos are of fat quarters starting with white fabric. The next was a shirt that was oatmeal colored, sort of beige. I really like how it turned out. Last is of the flour sack towels. Indigo is supposed to have antibacterial properties and be somewhat bug repellent. I can tell you the mosquitoes didnt notice any repelling properties and happily dive bombed me as I was working on dyeing the fast quarters. I plan to use this as a chemistry lab for my 8th grade students to dye flour sack towels. Then we will use the towels in the classroom for the rest of the year to save on paper towels. The indigo vat has to be reduced solution to dye the fabric (I used fructose and it worked fine) and then the fabric oxidizes in atmosphere when removed from the vat and turns from green to blue as you watch. Students will be able to see the chemical reactions. Teachers: if this is your first time playing with indigo then I recommend their kit, rather than this bag otherwise you are having to chase around and find ingredients.

Its a nice product…now if I can just master using it…reminds me of witchcraft and all that entails.

Fake indigo dye, but it did the job- beautiful navy blue colors, exactly the shade I was looking for but its not real indigo

This is a great dye with a pleasant floral smell. Worked great on my resist dying projects.
