This (nearly) 10x10 sketchbook is my SUPER FAVE book. The paper is sturdy enough for mixed media, and its sewn in. And its a fat 190 pages. Im coming back to this one for my new sketchbook - and I have another one I work in for extra paint experiments in the home studio. Ive gone through 4 jumbo square books already, and 2 or 3 midsized books, and one small one. I alternate with other sizes and brands for variety, but this is still my fave. From other reviews people have mentioned that ink will bleed through the paper some - I can confirm this is true, but I tend to like that effect so it doesnt bother me at all - and I love the fact that there are so many pages while still maintaining enough sturdiness to paint and collage on. Repeated watery media not recommended. Super good!

I realllllllly wanted to love this sketchbook. But the paper just seems too thin for what I prefer. I really enjoy sketching in pen and not seeing the ghosting of the sketch on the reverse side of the page, so that I can use both sides easily. The sketchbook doesnt open completely flat, but thats alright. I loved the size at about 10x10 inches. I also loved how many pages there were! I returned it though and got the Seawhite Eco Starter sketchbooks at 150 gsm and I am really enjoying those.

Came damaged

I am fairly new to keeping a sketchbook, but I was looking for something that had paper suitable for a variety of media and that came in a larger format. Seawhite and Brightons sketchbooks do just that. I love the ten inch square format- it gives me much more freedom than A5 sketchbooks that seem to be so widely available. The book is sturdy and well made- the pages are bright white with a slight tooth ( which I really like- not as slick as moleskine)- and it stays pretty close to completely flat when opened. So far the paper has been great with pens, brush markers, and watercolor that I typically use. The paper buckles slightly with the watercolor and only slight ghosting is visible with the brush markers. The company was very kind and prompt when I asked questions about them sticking their watercolor sketchbooks on Amazon- we might be seeing those soon! I ordered their A3 sketchbook and it arrives today along with the starter staples A4 sketchbooks- so excited. Im thrilled about the A3 size and hope that they stock the case bound book soon too! Im already a big fan. I will try to post pictures that show how the paper performs.

I have tried many different brands of sketchbooks over the years. Seawhite is now my favorite for graphite and pen. The paper has perfect tooth for maintaining the clarity of graphite line-work. The paper can also hold a good amount of graphite for creating layers. Its also great to pen work. The sketchbook is very solidly built. I love the square format. Great Product.
