> 24 hourthis is some pretty ho-hum stuff ,the 1/2 dia is a nominal measurement, the piece I received was .002 undersize and it is definitely not polished

> 24 hourI purchased this K&S 87147 Round Stainless Steel Rod, 1/2 OD x 12 Long for the intended purpose of using it as a gauge for a prototype project. I was in a position of needing to know if a certain size steel shaft would be the correct fit without having to buy, measure, and cut a specific length of that size shaft just to see if it would work. I scanned Amazon for any round metal object or type of elongated shaft of a certain diameter in size that I could use instead of having to use the method mentioned. Luckily, I came upon these precut 12 inch long K&S rods. I found that some of the rods offered were available in different materials and in quite a few diameters of interest. Long story short, I was able to order a handful of these rods in the various diameters for a fraction of the cost of just one length of a steel shaft. These K&S shafts made it easily possible to test each size and determine which size would best work for my project. And, as a bonus, I was also able to use these same rods as spindles in my floor standing drill press to cut short lengths of different ID tubing with — which these pieces of tubing were also part of my project. I had already engineered a horizontal cutting gig with adjustable blade depth for my drill press, so the rest was easy with these rods. These K&S 12 inch long rods turned out to be just another unexpected purchase that worked out perfectly. The quality of these rods was better than expected and each one had a decent finish. Each rod was also well within the expected tolerances of size and overall length. I have found many more uses for these K&S rods!

> 24 hourI bought this to assist with the manual stabilizing jacks on my tear drop trailer. Works great. Am very happy that I was able to easily order the correct size rod that I needed.

> 24 hourIf you’re looking for a perfectly smooth stainless steel rod for burnishing your knives, this will not be a good choice. I thought I’d save some money and use this for my reed knives and it was full of rough areas.

> 24 hourWas going to return this but I cant wait for another shipment. Not very useful for me even though I will use it but not happy. Up date: About .002 under size and after putting it in the lathe I found a bend about 3 inches from one end that gave about 1/4 inch wobble. I did my best to straighten it but still crooked.
