I typically do not leave reviews until I am thoroughly satisfied with the purchase. Imagine leaving a good review only for the item to fail a few days after. Purchased this bag 5 years ago. Without any exaggeration, this is arguably my favorite purchase not just on Amazon, but in general. The versatility in it being my DAILY bag for 5 ENTIRE YEARS (every. single. day.) and it being my travel companion throughout the world. It has visited much of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The shared picture is from my office as I write this review after receiving a compliment on a bag that I have had for 5 WHOLE years... now if that doesnt speak about longevity and durability then I dont know what does Its also my main hiking and camping bag lol - The thing does everything

I was using a NorthFace backpack before purchasing this. Aactually I was on my second NorthFace backpack, just because my old one was a year old. and I’m not complaining about north face because it’s a great product but I absolutely adore this and have not even thought about my prior two backpacks. I work in law-enforcement and I have to carry a lot of paperwork, a notebook computer, my laptop charger cords, my mouse, my multiple pen cases, Small items like my badge in small items like my badge and other small equipment items, Plus I usually pack things like deodorant and some personal items since sometimes just can go 12 hours or more. We don’t really carry items like this around with our uniform as we’re on the job but caring all that to him from home and getting it all packed up quickly is easy when you have Plus I usually pack things like deodorant and some personal items since sometimes just can go 12 hours or more. We don’t really carry items like this around with our uniform as we were on the job but caring all that to and from home and getting it all packed up quickly is easy when you have a great bag. I carry a purse also but I have been able to move to smaller purses because of switching to a backpack for carrying all my stuff with me to my job/duties. I like this one because it’s simple and I don’t have to maneuver things through the zipper. I never realized how kind of annoying a zipper book bag is until I didn’t have one. Everything I need to carry has its place in this bag and it gets in there quickly and easily and safely and then I just tighten the strings and close the flap. So easy so simple and so far it has been able to carry everything up put in it. And the price is unbelievable compared to what I was using before. Again not knocking the prior brand, as I’m a big fan of that brand, but the price and the durability and the resourcefulness of this bag has made it my favorite. And it’s just so pretty/cute/stylish, whichever works for everyone. I want another one, not because mine is worn out or messed up or that I need one, but because I just want one. We have family that live out of state so I’m thinking of getting one to pack items you need nearby, but not necessarily in your purse, on a 5 to 6 hour car ride.

EDIT: 2 years later: I still have this backpack and have used it a ton. The bag straightened out and so did the pencil bag. The straps are still thin as they were from when I first got it, but my Herschel backpacks straps thinned out to the same thickness after only a couple years. I forgot to revisit this review but only remembered as I got an Amazon giftcard for a substantial amount of money and was eyeing a new Herschel bag in plum to switch things up. Ive increased my rating to 4 stars from 3 stars before, and would increase to 5 stars if the straps were thicker. Other than that, its actually pretty well made for the cost and I definitely love the side pockets which I use constantly. Good value for your money! PREVIOUS REVIEW: This bag just got delivered today and although it looks nice overall, like a lot of things from China (unfortunately), theres compromises to the structure of the bag. Perhaps its because of the way it was packaged (folded in half and tightly packaged, thus compromising the structure), but the padding on the backside and the straps is actually pretty thin compared to the product listing photos and just slightly thinner than my current Herschel bag, a backpack Ive had for about 4-5 years now. It also looks semi-permanently folded because of the way it was packaged. I would say this Kaukko bags padding is about half of the thickness of my current Herschel bag which has padding thats gotten pretty thin over the years, and the primary reason why I wanted to replace it, which says a lot. In addition, the inside felt lining is nowhere near as soft to my current bag either, which is a bummer. Also, the outside fabric shell itself feels pretty durable, but the quality of the linen (or whatever its made out of) feels way more synthetic than a Herschel bag, as well as the fabric of the inside red/white lining, which feels more plastic-y than the lining of my Herschel bag. It looks attractive and from the front looks comparable to a Herschel bag, so I was hoping for a really great bag to replace the one I currently own since Herschel bags are so expensive and this looked like it had great reviews for half the price, but its really just good for temporary or light use for someone who uses it every day to carry my laptop, charger, wallet, planner, and for a mobile lifestyle. If I hadnt had my current bag to compare it to, Id probably think it was just fine, but in all actuality, its probably better for light use, but I wouldnt recommend it for people who carry a lot of heavy stuff in their backpack, like textbooks, etc. I will say that I like the extra pockets on the sides to carry water bottles and the extra pockets on the inside of the backpack, features that arent on my current Herschel bag. Also, the pencil case that it came with was also folded tightly, giving it wrinkles. Im sure it has to do with the fact that imports from China are weight-based so they have to accommodate and fit as many products in a tight space as possible, but it lowers the quality when you try to open it back up and it looks semi-permanently folded, and also makes the straps thinner because of the lack of air and tightly compressed. All in all, Id say its a decent knockoff, but in comparison to the actual quality of a Herschel bag, its not really that comparable. Ill update this as I use the bag more and see if the bag straightens out better as it gets more breathing room.

I bought it for my two weeks trip to Europe and it was amazing, it has so much space and the weight is well distributed. Its my go to backpack when I have to travel.

I am very impressed with this alternative to the Herschel backpack. I bought the Nylon Green 600D polyester version. When choosing, pay attention to the material used in the style you choose; the newer versions Kaukko released are made with 600D polyester which is more water resistant than previous versions. These backpacks come with two external pockets for water bottles. Internal pockets include a laptop sleeve(this fits my 15 laptop well but of you have a larger laptop it may not fit) and 4 smaller pockets. The main compartment can be sealed with a drawstring. Overall, this pack is significantly cheaper than the Herschel backpack and offers identical features. I am most interested in seeing the durability of this pack; after 1 month I have had no problems. The backpack is made well and has no visible flaws. I do expect this pack to last years from my initial impression

This bag is big, and I love it. I could get all sorts of book bags with snaps and zippers. I didnt want that. I wanted a simple, stylish bag with lots of room that I could comfortably carry on my back. I use it as my daily bag, meaning I use it for overnight trips, going to school, and a carry-on when travelling. Its probably a decent day pack if you know youll need space when travelling, as well. Pros: -- Stylish: This looks so much better than a typical swiss army knife bag with snaps and zippers everywhere. I can organize my stuff on my own, thanks. The leather straps dont look fake or anything, and while they are magnetic, they are easy to attach/remove without being an issue. -- Big: the bag has tons of room. It probably is the size of your hips to your neck in height, but its not too deep or wide so as to look over-sized. -- Comfort: The bag has ample padding on the back/straps to cool you off and not put stress on the holding points. -- Size pockets: The size pockets, while not large enough for something like a 32-oz Nalgene, is good enough for most 20-24oz vacuum-insulated water bottles, as are so popular today. The added straps actually are useful as they keep that bottle from falling out. On the other side I keep handy wipes/such to clean my hands within easy reach. -- Small details: the added nylon stitched-straps on the shoulder straps are good for quickly attaching a carabiner of keys/etc or quickly holding sunglasses. The smaller front pouch has a zipper under the magnetic flap so nothing will fall out. -- Colors/fabrics: I went with a grey nylon fabric for the water-resistance, and that came with light-brown leather with bronzed metal and red/white pinstripe interior. Canvas probably would have looked great but I wanted the water-resistance, and I worried that, as a guy, the blues would look too feminine with the red pinstripes, but black would be too boring. Cons: -- Can look feminine: As mentioned above, the bag can look slightly feminine (Im a guy) if you arent careful about colors as a result of the red pinstripes. Not a concern (nor should it be) for everyone, but just keep that in mind. -- Interior/laptop pockets: The interior pockets of the main pocket are just 3: two smaller cloth pockets, and a laptop pocket. The interior pockets dont really keep things contained very well unless theyre big enough. Smaller things can fall out because theyre looser and have no fasteners. The laptop pouch, while nice, legitimately will fit nothing large than 15 screen. I have a 14 slim computer and it fits fairly snug. I ended up getting a cheap laptop sleeve, and using the laptop pouch to put notebooks/folders instead. -- Weight distribution: As a result of the bag being so tall with minimal pockets, the weight distribution tends to be very low in the bag. With the straps so high, it can sometimes lead to a weird feeling of the weight not being ideally on your upper back. Its not terrible, but it does mean that I wouldnt recommend this for anything where youre doing lots of walking and carrying lots of items. There are other bags ideal for hiking/camping that definitely would be better for this.

This bag has lasted me through four years of school, freshman to senior, heavy books, notebooks, etc. It lasted through travels on planes, packing clothes, and sleepovers. There are no rips or tears, the straps are still in perfect condition, and the padding on the bag is great for comfort so any books in the bag dont dig into your back. I highly recommend it.

Loved it. The straps are for show, they have magnetic snaps that work perfectly. Perfect for day to day work.
