> 24 hourI spent a while researching kids umbrellas here on Amazon, as my 2.5 year old daughter has recently become obsessed with our umbrellas and so I wanted to get her one more suitable for her size. It seems that many kids umbrellas dont last long, from all the reviews I read on countless umbrellas - most seemed to break in some way or another, and fairly quickly. I think this is because umbrellas are somewhat fragile to begin with (just the way theyre made, with several thin mechanical arms that hold open the canopy), so combined with a childs rough-play they just dont last too long in the first place. After a month of almost daily play with this umbrella, it has held up very well. Its not rain season here, so we have yet to use it for what it was meant for, but my daughter has played with it both opened & closed all over the house, dropped it & banged it against the wall a few times and so far it has held up to the toddler test. The canopy has help up well, which is notable to me because many reviews I read on other kids umbrellas stated that the fabric ripped easily at the top even with mild use. One feature I do appreciate is the release button your child presses to close the umbrella. I remember as a child the metal part you push to close most umbrellas often functioned in a way that ended up with my little fingers being pinched, so this umbrella seems to have that area covered to provide an ouch-less way for your child to easy close the umbrella. This mechanism has jammed a couple times, but with a little wiggling on me or my husbands part weve always been able to get it to work. There are also plastic ball caps on the end of each arm, I know this is a typical feature for umbrellas - but still an important one when it comes to a childs umbrella. So far none have popped off, the umbrella seems to be pretty steady and well made. Most importantly, my daughter adores it and loves playing with it. Its got a cute print! This company also sells a matching raincoat and boots, in case youre interested. Finally, as we get closer to the rainy season where I live, I will say that once we get some real experience using this umbrella in the rain I will be sure to update this review! For now its been more of a toy & accessory, and Im pretty pleased with it overall. I will also be sure to update this review if the umbrella does break or stop working in any way. As of now, I would definitely recommend it as a good & functional umbrella for a little girl.
