Very disappointed - Klein Tools is a recognizable brand and I expected better quality. I used a pinless moisture meter for years at work - that one cost $300 plus but gave me a good understanding of what to expect from readings. Cut, split, and dry hardwood that was cut 2 plus years ago and stored in a shed read 6% - impossible. Wood takes on ambient moisture, and even in a shed would have a 10-15% moisture reading. Hardwood I cut, split and stacked a few weeks ago reads 8% along the split surface and maxes out (40+%) on the cut end - same piece of wood. Its ridiculous. Just turning the meter on produces a 8% reading when the sensor isnt touching anything. I tossed the box out so I wont return it but I certainly would recommend others to avoid this one.

I needed it to measure the moisture content of freshly cut lumber before I stained it.

If you are putting in wood flooring, or toung and groove walls, this tool is invaluable. Measure your wood and substrate. Know how much its going to shrink or expand. Gaps suck! Compression bows sucketh much more. This is the solution.

I HAD A GRAY WATER JOB, SATURATED WALLS AND FLOORING. I TOOK READINGS OF UNAFFECTED AREAS FOR COMPARISON, THE METER READ AS INTENDED ON CONCRETE, HARDWOOD AND DRYWALL. I WAS ABLE TO TRACK AND RECORD THE MOISTURE LEVELS AS THINGS DRIED. I AM 100% SATISFIED WITH ALL OF MY KLEIN TOOLS BUT THIS ONE PAID FOR ITSELF FIRST ASSIGNMENT! AND USE IT OFTEN. Initially the item worked well assessing moisture content on a sailboat. Then it suddenly would only display an error message. This is clearly a cheap product that works well, most moisture meters run around $300-400, so assuming the next one works for a reasonable amount of time this will be a great value. We shall see.

Timely arrival and in perfect condition. Checked the accuracy against a friend’s borrowed meter and dead on. It’s a Klein, among the best out there at this price point. I’ve used other Klein meters for years and still have them in my toolbox. So durability is expected. If it meets your needs, Buy it.

After I arrived at my condo, found we had a water leak coming up through the slab. As we worked to determine where it was coming from, I ordered this to help find how extensive the leak was and it sure helped me in working through the mitigation process with the contractor. I left it in the condo just in case we go through this again. Its not as accurate as the expensive units but its close. I had to use it convince the contractor he had not cut the sheetrock up high enough to allow it wall to dry out. Save me a lot of yelling when I showed him..

Used for measuring moisture in my subflooring plywood after my water heater went south. Wood measured off the chart. Took close to 2 weeks to dry out so I could lay new new laminate. Nice not to have to use pins, just lay on floor and scoot.

Every home owner needs one of these if the had a leak. it will show where the moisture is higher behind sheet rock/wood/vinyl/ laminate/hardwood/even tile if you compare to the dry section first.
