Exactly what I needed to fox the leak, easy to install, works great

I had the older red type seal that shipped with my Kohler toilet about 15-17 years ago and it eventually became so worn down it showed variance in certain areas that made it no longer flat and snug around the canister and I would notice my tank is constantly pouring water down the bowl, attempting to refill. I didnt go with a cheaper or alternative part because I know this seal is guaranteed to work. It will have the appropriate thickness, and diameter. I dont know how these new yellow silicone based seals will last over time or how they will change (ex. shrink or expand) but I know they are supposed to be better and specifically replace the red seals. What I made sure to do is properly remove the chain from the canister and get it out with a quarter turn so I can properly clean it. I used isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip to clean the groove on the canister that the seal will need to fit into, as well as the base that makes contact with the lower part in the tank. I then used a waterproof silicone grease (Danco 88693) that I spread on the entire seal lightly. This is probably not required but it does help provide an extra layer of protection on the seal from contaminants. This grease is typically used on o-rings in faucets and other seals on plumbing fixtures. There are 2 seals provided in separate packaging so one can serve as a great backup.

Even though we have a whole-house filter, our toilets tend to collect mineral (calcium?) deposits on and around the canister seals. After a couple of years, enough deposits build and the seal no longer sits flats and the tank gets slowly drained into the bowl. These seals are a perfect fit for my Kohler toilet. It takes all of 2 minutes to remove the canister and old seal, clean the seal seat, and re-install the canister. The instructions on the back of the package led me through the process. Once changed, the toilet no longer leaked around then base of the canister. All was right in the toilet world once again.

If your Kohler toilet is running a lot, it may be time to replace this part. Solved the problem. Easy to install. Glad these are available on Amazon and the price is good too.

This was the exact part I needed to stop the toilet from randomly kicking on every so often. Easy to assemble by just watching a you tube video!

Installs easy. Before installing the new seal, make sure that the cannister flange and bottom contact area are clean.

There are 5 Kohler toilets in the house, but only one uses this seal. In 5 minutes from opening the package, the project was completed. I now have a spare that I will need in about 5 years from now.

I ordered a two pack but only got one.
