The book came up when I was searching for The Shack and since my wife is Dominican I decided to buy it for her. However this actually a novel written by a turn of the century Spanish author.

Gripping tale of times in Spain country side and its feudal like style way of life where upward mobility was basically impossible for the lower classes ( peasants), and the envious, ignorance and backwards mentally of this class towards one of its own because he came from another region
