The joints are tight and hold their position very well at any angle

I have used this stand to hold my 12.9 iPad and my 6+ iPhone. I sat this stand on my kitchen counter and plopped my iPad on it. It was easy to angle it for ease of reading my recipes and it never seemed to make it unsteady when I would touch and swipe on my tablet while resting on the stand. Oh yeah, and I did put my 9.7 iPad on it to watch youtube while I was working at my desk. If this one disappears or breaks - I will very much get a replacement. If you find yourself wanting a portable tv or something to place your phone on so that it doesnt get lost on your desk or table - this is perfect.

I LOVE this stand!! Once an angle is set, it holds that angle until you change it! And there’s no lever, no tightener, nothing! Easy to use, very stable, and doesn’t take up much room. It holds my 12.9 IPad Pro without slipping. I just love it!
