Rubber strips on the upper arms hold my laptop in place nicely; no shifting when I plug in power or peripherals. I use this on my standing desk to get a better viewing height/angle and reduce neck strain. I tucked a neoprene mousepad underneath (8 wide, with the legs attached at max width, fits perfectly) and use my mouse from there, which saves some desk space and appearance of clutter.
