This is a great set if you want to build something for the kids to play around, not with. The base is comprised of 3 plates, and if you dont pick the thing up with the grace of a waiter in a high priced restaurant itll torque itself to pop the base apart, and then the main unit will suffer cataclysmic structural failure, dooming all inhabitants to the merciless crush of the sea. If you have the bricks to spare, you can beef up the connections. Otherwise, be prepared to reassemble this model until the kids get frustrated.

The assembly was great for a 6 year old, not too hard but a good endurance workout over a rainy afternoon. Good for interactive play, not just model building, as the pods detach and become obstacles for daddy to step on as he heads off to work at o’dark-thirty.
