This set was perfect for my almost 5.5 year old. She took a little over 30 minutes to put it together on her own, and she has some experience with Lego. The most difficult part she needed help with was the elastic on the claw. This set is a great addition to the other space vehicles released by Lego. Of course I always wish for more, and would have loved if this could have been somehow assembled as part of the rocket mechanism and then with 3-4 easy connection be made into the rover, but I understand the building limits. The two figures are perfect, one to test on earth, the other to do scientific research in space... or just rock collecting for now.

My son thoroughly enjoyed putting this together. And who doesnt like an articulated arm with a spring-loaded claw on the end for gripping stuff? It did seem kind of weird that this was in the City line of kits considering its a space vehicle. It features both an astronaut and a construction worker (or engineer maybe?) right next to each other. Either the astronaut doesnt really need to be in his astronaut suit, or the construction worker can breathe vacuum. Maybe the scene on the front is of the two of them faking a moon landing? I dont know. It took my 7-year-old about 30 minutes to put this together. Hes not super-experienced with Legos but the instructions were, as always, beautifully and precisely illustrated. General Tips For First-Timers and Small Kids: - If possible build on the floor - if building on a table, parts can roll or slide off - If building on a table, create a barrier around the build area to keep parts contained - books work well for this - Before you start assembly, separate all the parts into piles according to color. (The really small bits can be their own pile) If you want to make this a team activity with your child or younger sibling here are a couple more tips: - If the child has trouble putting the parts together, have him/her find and hand you the parts and you put them together - If the child gets bored or frustrated, take turns - you perform one step he/she does the next etc... - Dont be afraid to finish the build yourself if the child seems to be losing interest

This is the first Lego set like this that weve had. My husband and daughter had a lot of fun putting it together. The instruction book was great and easy to follow. This was a fun beginner set for them and now they are looking for more. ;)

My 8 year old daughter and I love building these! It is our fun bonding time. I wish they did not cost so much, but the fact you can build them again and again makes it worth it.
