Weve picked up two of these clever gadgets. One weve installed on the roof to feed the solar array wires down through a hole blasted in the roof. The other will be used on the leading edge of our travel trailer to run the control module-to-battery bank through our fiberglass front cap. The whole idea has been an answer to a huge puzzlement, as in previous installs, weve been able to run our array wiring down through either the refrigerator vent or a sewer vent stack, but that wasnt possible with the latest rig. Heres the one issue: The company suggests that the gland should be mounted using glue. If youve given a your EDPM roof a coat of sealant to renew it against UV and weather, gluing something to that new coat may not work. Weve had issues where a temporary patch made with tape simply peels up the roof coating. That, and were just not too enthused about the idea of something like an adhesive being strong enough to withstand wind shear pressure. Hence, we went ahead and drilled and screwed the gland to the roof, after thoroughly applying the APPROPRIATE sealant, based on the roof manufacturers instructions.
