These paints are really the best. I am a beginner-to-intermediate watercolor hobbyist, and have tried a few different kinds of each of the types of watercolors-solids, liquid tubes, and now these. And these are my favorite! The colors are bold and rich, even when mixed with a lot of water. I think they would be ideal for illustration or lettering, but wet on wet seems to look gorgeous as well. I know there are a lot of singular bottles of ecoline liquid watercolors you can buy separately from this set, but the only one I felt like I really needed was white, which is not included. I will say that you should get a dropper set or syringes to extract the color from the bottles and put into your palette. Pouring it out DOES NOT WORK and will cause a big mess and a waste of precious pigment. I love these paints though, and will definitely sing their praises!

Living in Las Vegas, I have trouble mixing watercolors as they dry out quickly. This solves the problem, although the colors are intense, not as sheer as I expected, then I just add water to them. Great value.

It came right on time, and I really like the bright vivid colors. I will definitely be diluting them or toning them down somehow. You have to work fast. Once they get into the paper there is no getting them back up. They are very staining but again, vivid beautiful colors. Ill probably use them along with my highly granulating traditional watercolors. I really like the color separating layered look you get by combining the granulating colors with staining colors. But they will probably last me forever considering how strong the color is. The only complaint I have is the about the mess of the sepia color I had to clean off the bottles and the inside of the case. The top wasnt twisted on all the way and a little leaked out. A little goes a LONG way. I didnt lose much from the bottle and the cute little cases that they come in had no cracks or issues closing. I really like that they come in those cases and it definitely makes putting 10 bottles away much easier. I was considering buying another, much more expensive set of liquid watercolors but I dont really see the point. With the exception of the true red I feel like I have everything I need or everything I need to mix the color myself

I tried liquid watercolors in a Let’s Make Art kit- I really liked them! I decided I wanted to buy a set with more colors. Ecoline seemed to be a very reasonable option so I bought this set. Thinking I could try some additional colors and projects to see if I want to invest in a more expensive set later (which isn’t even necessary after using these!) I love them! I’ve used them with a water brush pen and that worked really well. They did go on the paper a bit more opaque than I thought they would be a little more sheer but they dried to a very nice vibrant color so it’ll be interesting to play around with these! I’m very excited to add these paints to my collection. I’m in love! The only negative was that both clear lids used to cover the paint jars were cracked/broken in transit.

This set was super cute & all the reviews essentially forced me to buy it.. I cant even begin to explain how excited I was when this set came in!!! I opened the box & saw that it came with 2 trays (very convenient to hold bottles) with all of its gorgeous colors. So I started trying out all the colors & my excitement soon turned to disappointment when I saw the set didnt even come with a red! It comes with a very bright orange-ish - reddish (RUST) color but no where near RED.. I mean come on!!!! The next issue (& the biggest) was the quality of the watercolors. They were pretty & vibrant but they performed similar to my cheap, knock off brand Sargent Art that costs a fraction of the price (& you get 4 times as much). Obviously they didnt even come close to Dr. Ph. Martins Hydrus & Radiant collections, however, I wasnt expecting them to.. these sets are $80.00 a pop. In retrospect this is totally my fault for assuming it wouldve come with a red but the fact remains that this set (at this very high price) doesnt even come with all 3 primary colors & isnt that great of quality to begin with! PS: Photos included only show my current liquid watercolors as I didnt make a chart for this brand as soon as I realized I wasnt keeping it. Sorry about that... Also, my Sargent Art watercolors are kept in the 2 oz. dropper bottles to the left (since they didnt come with their own) - which brings up a very good fact - if you buy these, youre literally buying the cute bottles & name brand because quality ( for the price) & performance are sorely lacking in this product & in my opinion its just inst worth it. PPS: The paper showing liquid watercolors is not watercolor paper (watercolor paper doesnt fit into printers) & therefore, is a very poor reflection of what these colors actually look like, trust me when I say - this paper does the colors no justice!!!. My fault again, i refuse to sit there for an hour & draw out those color charts! Esp with all the color charts I make. lol

These paints are super juicy and flow like you would not believe. The colors are brilliant, to the point that they need to be knocked back a little occasionally with some neutral tint. Im still new to the whole watercolor thing, only been doing it a month and a half, but I immediately wanted to try them. The first image, the flowers, shows what Im talking about with the flow... the slightest touch of two colors, and they flow into each other out of control. So its going to take some practice to get these to blend on the paper, although they glaze beautifully. The second image, I just threw together a quick illustration of jelly row houses to sample the colors, especially how to mix darker and lighter. All in all, these things are great, and would get 5 stars if they were as light fast as my other liquid watercolors (Hydrus set).

Ecoline by Royal Talens is a line of dye-based inks that flow and perform like watercolor, but remain much more vibrant once dry. I love them when I want luminous, vibrant pops of color in an illustration and the work perfectly alongside traditional watercolors. Theyre lovely and now that the bottles have dropped built in, theyre even more convenient to use. Please note that, as with other dye-based inks, Ecoline colors are not lightfast. They will fade if exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. This means that while they are perfect for illustration or hand lettering that will be scanned onto the computer, they arent an ideal choice for work to be directly displayed or sold as orthogonal art. As long as you understand what youre buying, you wont be disappointed. Ecoline is directly comparable to Dr. Ph. Martins Radiant Liquid Watercolors, which I have used in the past and are also very nice, but Evoking comes in at a lower price point. I like both, but find Ecoline to be a better value. The colors are exceptionally concentrated, so a little goes a long way. Ecoline also offers its colors in brush pens, which some may also find convenient. The attached abstract heart illustration was created for Inktober 2018 using about 75% Ecoline from this set and 25% traditional watercolor (Daniel Smith and Finetec).

*I havent used them yet and I will update this once I do* As far as shipping and packaging they came perfectly intact, only one bottle was slightly tilted but the case they come in prevents them from laying entirely on their side so no spilling! I bought them as a gift for my husband for our anniversary and they are definitely gift ready, they are really beautiful and nicely packaged. Bigger than I expected but that is just because I hadnt put much thought into how large each bottle is. And I was very pleased with shipping, I bought them in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic so Amazon made it very clear that shipping would likely be delayed and to my surprise they showed up 3 days before they said they would!

The colors of the ECOLine paints are amazing. Extremely vibrant, easy to mix with water for various washes of lighter shades and mix perfectly together. I have had these watercolors for a week and have painted a few times with them and swatched them, so they have had time to dry in my plastic palette. A reviewer mentioned that they did not re-activate right, and I feel like perhaps that reviewer might have received a bad batch, as these respond to reactivation or even the tip of a wet brush in the dry as if the paint had never dried in the first place. (If that makes sense?) I have used only the tiniest drops to get several paintings and mixings, which is excellent, as I can see that these paints will outlast my pans much longer. I am impressed with these, very much so, and hope to be able to slowly afford to add more of them to my collection as time goes on. These are definitely 100% worth the investment.
