    A tool like this only has one purpose, so you should be able to expect it to do that one thing well - and this one does. The price is reasonable and they send several replacement sponges. The description says they are brass, but they sure look like copper to me. Whatever they are they work well. The base and hood are very light-weight formed metal. They wont take a lot of abuse, but for most uses they shouldnt see a lot of abuse. I may try to add some weight to the base just so it doesnt shift around on the table when cleaning the iron tip. Nothing fancy, but does the job it was made to do.

    Garbage. Its so thin and lightweight that it just moves around and tips over. Not exactly safe or convenient when you have a 400° soldering iron in your hand. Terrible. Needs to be weighted down..

If you do not keep your soldering tip cleaned and properly maintained, then it will not be able to heat up the solder enough to get the job done.

The SITC01 is a replacement solder tip cleaning wire sponge. These sponges are hard enough to remove debris and some corrosion from the solder tips while being soft enough not to damage the tip. They help to remove oxides and excess solder to preserve tip life and enable clean, precise soldering.
