Seems a bit flimsy, but had no problems using it on a 200+ watt transceiver. Its 50 ohm input impedance measured well within tolerance.

What can I say, its a big resistor in a box! You would think that they could have the greenest newbs assembling these but maybe I give newbs too much credit. I opened the box and found one of the case screws started at about 30 degrees from straight on and only screwed about half way so the screw was sticking out a good 1/4. I removed the screw and installed it straight and fully without any issues but it seems ridiculous that something this simple was brushed over at the factory.

Dummy loads and antenna analyzer are the two tools youll go to everytime your radio gives you hiccups. The dummy load simulates a perfect antenna that can be used a reference point. I was originally going to give this a zero star review because it arrived to me open circuit. Inside a dummy load is a resistor. A non-inductive, pulse withstanding resistor, typically of this price level its a carbon composition or a carbon pile with horrific temper coefficients, but still. a 50 ohm 10% resistor. Mine was an open circuit, which I detected from my analyzer... thank god I didnt put it directly to my radio. The case was aluminum but the mating surfaces wouldnt conduct. I disassembled both resistor mounting brackets, after checking continuity and getting nothing. rubbed everything shiny with 0000 steel wool. reassembled, perfect. However the 259 bulkhead cant see it. I had to take the bulkhead off, polish the metal surface, reinstall/solder the bulkhead, and now R = 53. I essentially had to rebuild it from a full disassembly. Whoever put that hand written green QC sticker on it never tested. you know what they say, MJF = mighty fine junk Always test your equipment before using them to test something more expensive. cheers. Whenever I want to cuss another trucker out, I unscrew my antenna and screw this in, then let him have it. This way he cant hear me. Works out for both of us
