My daughter is in to art, and she wanted to do animations but the free software wasnt good enough. I got this for her and she is very happy with it. She says it didnt take long to learn and she was able to do everything she wanted with it. Much easier than Blender or other pro-level programs.

This is a fun system that allows you to learn the basics of animation. It does take some time to learn the program, but once you learn a technique, its easy to move to another. The software has a beginner mode that really does make it easy to learn. Once youve mastered that, you can delve into more in-depth animation. I was intrigued with the difference between this and the pro versions. Glad I opted for this one since I am such a novice. make sure you read through the tutorial as it offers so much information. The system is wonderful, allows you to learn by example, and gives back once you do.

I got this for my son to start to mess around as he really enjoys using his phone to create stop motion and drawn animations. He has a low level gaming PC with a 4gb GPU and the PC can handle this program with zero issues at all. Luckily I set it up with an old CD/DVD drive, so I was able to use this. Not sure why people still sell stuff on discs. Installation was fast and easy. I was really excited about the stock imagery. There is plenty to choose from, we decided on some funny looking cats. However, thats where the ease ends. I am sure much of the interface is common industry language, but the UI may as well be written in hieroglyphs for all I know. It is pretty difficult to navigate and set up if you dont know what the thousands of windows and buttons are for, which we clearly dont. I was able to create some basic movements and such after a while and got a bit of an idea where things were headed. I was going to do the tutorial with my son, but it turns out the tutorial is a massive PDF document and not on-screen interactive. We are still working on getting the hang of things, and I think it is really a matter of playing around with i for a while, but I would not say this is for beginners. I would call this more suited for a hobbyist that has been animating for a while and wants a better platform. However, I do think with some time and practice getting to know the program, we will eventually be able to create some neat stuff, so the only reason I didnt give it 5 stars was the confusing UI and complexity for true beginners.

Excited to master the debut so we can dig in to the pro. I did get both as I figured we would have one installed on 2 different machines and that the debut version would be good training ground. I will upload some creations once I get a little better. The large number of features makes this a valuable addition to my business.

I puchased this Moho Debut 13.5 recently, wanting to mess around with doing some 2D animation and learn a new bit of software. After installing it, I had the impression I had used this software before - and turns out I had. This is Smith Micros Anime Studio rebranded as MOHO. I already had both Anime Studio Pro 9 & Anime Studio Debut and had used both in the past. So there shouldnt be much of a new learning curve for me with this Moho Debut. If you are new to this sort of thing (2D animation software), this software might seem a bit challenging at first. Take your time, read the tutorial manual and the user manual. There are also some good videos on YT that can cover the basics of getting started. One thing about this Debut version of the software, its basically the PLE (personal learning edition) for the full version of the software, Moho Pro 13.5. You can do most of the basic things with Debut, but you need the full version to do more advance work. All-in-all, Im happy with my purchase and look forward to seeing what new features there might be in this 13.5 release of the software.

I have been a user of Moho for over 10 years. It’s my go to animation software and an essential tool in my workflow. I have also released a few courses and a book on how to use the software. I think it’s a fantastic investment for anyone interested in animation. The Debut version of Moho is a great way to enter the animation world on a budget. You get access to some of Moho’s best features: the Bone system, camera, multiple layer types and vector tools. Moho can be used to create any style of animation from something like Family Guy, South Park or Archer, to Anime or anything in between. You can design everything in Moho or import outside images, or even combine the two. A streamlined yet powerful set of tools for creating fun animations. As stated, Debut is streamlined compared to Pro. You will find more options with Pro, but Debut is a great place for beginners or hobbyists. Even better, if you realize down the road you need more functionality, you can easily bring your Debut project files over to Pro and keep building up your work with the enhanced toolset. Bottom line: if you’re curious about animation but don’t want to invest a lot, this is a great place to start. It showcases some of Moho’s best features, is functional for creating standalone productions and allows for further expansion with the optional Pro version.

My 10 yr old granddaughter LOVES to draw and is very creative. Her forte is Anime type of figures. So I figure this looks like a great starting point for her to play with animation. I did a basic look through and it seems like this will help her to start to understand the process without getting overwhelmed while she gains confidence. Ive looked at the Pro as well and Id say if you have zero experience with animation, this would be the best place to start. You can export anything from here to the Pro version so you wont lose that material either. Once she has had the opportunity to work with this Ill return to relay her thoughts and experiences.

The disc didnt come with all the files needed for installation. And the one you need, msvcr100.dll isnt even available anymore. You also cant return opened software, so its money down the drain.

Not happy at all. I bought this as a gift. The serial number provided on does not work at all. I will have to return this item.
