You just download the app and sync it up to your phone. The app is user friendly and has fun options for adding graphics, changing font, etc. This label maker uses tape rather than stickers! This means that you can make the labels as short or long as you want. It has a button you push to get a perfect straight edge cut right at the end of the label. The printing is high sheen, no smudging. And as an added bonus, it has a super cute retro design. Did a test sticker on my cell phone case (goes in and out of my pocket constantly) and it has held up without any peeling or smudging for weeks. Overall, this is nice compact easy to use label maker.
