Greater than one weekI have bought many computer casings and computer casing cooler fans over the last 30 years. Noctua is the most quiet cooler fan I have ever purchased. I have install three 120mm fans in my little beast of a computer HAF-XB computer case and it is quiet. If you want quietness, try NOCTUA it the best. It probably cost twice the amount you pay for a standard fan cooler, it keeps the computer case cool and gets the job done.

Greater than one weekThis is an excellent replacement for my XPS 8920 chassis fan that was becoming very noisy and spinning for long periods of time. The only problem (not at the fault of Noctua or the fan) is that the 8920 squeezes things into the case making it difficult to swap out parts. As such, I had to remove the CPU impeller fan and heatsink in order to swap out the old fan for this one. The old fan was blocked in by the heat sink and the power cable connector to the motherboard was unreachable with the heatsink in place. Thus the ease to install is 2/5 stars for my specific issue. I imagine it would be 5/5 if the fan mount point and power connector were more easily accessible.
The NF-S12A marks the third generation of Noctua’s signature S12 series quiet case fans, which have received more than 250 awards and recommendations from the international press. Featuring a further refined blade design with Anti-Stall Knobs that works in tandem with the new AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frame, the NF-S12A improves the airflow/noise efficiency of its renowned predecessor by up to 8%. The PWM version sports Noctua’s custom designed NE-FD1 IC for fully automatic speed control via 4-pin fan headers and comes with a Low-Noise-Adaptor to reduce the maximum speed during PWM control from 1200 to 900rpm. Anti-Stall Knobs
The NF-S12A"s Anti-Stall Knobs reduce flow separation phenomena in medium to high impedance situations and thereby increase the fan"s stall margin. This means that the NF-S12A is even more versatile than its renowned predecessor and can achieve better performance on heatsinks and radiators.
