Ortofon Replacement Stylus 2M Red

Low and mid frequency outstanding. Unfortunately high frequency is a bit disappointing.

Very easy to replace this stylus without tools.

I love Ortofon 2M series. I dont have the money to drop on the more expensive ones, but I have no sound complaints. I would like to upgrade to a 2M blue series, but will continue to have a 2M red on hand, no matter what. Price is right and swap out is fast and easy.

The sound of this cartridge is well known, but I want to talk about something else: how easy it is to change the stylus. All the fittings are by friction. The old stylus comes off easily if you squeeze and pull in the intuitive direction. Keep the old one around to figure out the orientation of the new one, unless you have a fine topological mind. Once you have the right direction the new stylus slips on easily. Now the good part: theres a stylus cover which also comes off with a little pull in a direction completely different than the direction of mounting the stylus itself. In other words, when you pull off the cover, you can NOT mess up the orientation of the stylus. Thank you Ortofon!

Received package within 3 days. This is the needle for my pro-ject turn table, so I was worried about getting it damaged in shipping.. but the box in which needle is packed was really good and safe.. ortofon 2m needle is really great. The sound it produce is very clean and crisp.. The advantage is that when we break the needle we dont have to take it to repair shop to fix it.. its very simple to replace this needle.. I can rate the build quality as 5 on 5. The sound quality is 4 on 5 .. just because I have heard better sounding needles. But sound is very subjective.. Over all its a great needle.

Performs as advertised. I dont understand why the stylus alone costs almost as much as the cartridge.

This stylus was bundled with my Technics 1500 C turntable. Im no turntable expert but can say as a veteran producer and musician that the sound is great from this stylus. Would purchase again.

Very disappointing. I bought this a few months ago and the needle just snapped off! I’m always very careful with the stylus.

was surprised by ease of installation. and after install was even impress how much it actually improve the sound quality of my 5 to 7 year old turntable. I have already purchased the replacement to keep. I will definitely recommend it.

I love my ortofon red yes there are better performing cartridges and styli available but ortofon has a particular sound that many of us find pleasing I am one of those that enjoys the subtle quarks and moments of audio bliss this cartridge and styli can reproduce under the right circumstances for the money I am more than happy with the reds performance just take the time to set up your cart according to your turntable specifications and you should be a happy audio camper
