Greater than one weekIve installed many of these SSDs in iMacs over the years. Installing the drive is the easiest part. Getting it to restore using time machine is a challenge. After several failed attempts at a time machine recovery to set up the new SSD. I recommend making a usb boot disc installer for the OS you want. I used Big Sur. Boot from the installer disc you just made, install a fresh OS on the SSD, then migrate the data from your time machine back up. The steps to make the boot disc using terminal are found easily online... if you cant do that, you shouldnt be opening up an iMac. I have several of these SSDs from OWC. They are a huge improvement over a stock mac internal HD.

Greater than one weekEasily swapped the internal drive in the late 2012 MBP. Used Carbon Copy Cloner (Bombich) to create the external copy. Swapped it out, and started it up. The MBP is obviously faster and has been operating since.
