> 24 hourthe power is 12V 3A made by the famous Taiwan brand APD, powerful enough to handle the surge when you turn on the HDD; the finish is very well, the chipset is JMicron JMS 567; Get it if you have a Seagate Exos 18T: the HDD can be smoothly shoehorned into the enclosure! OWC is trustworthy!

> 24 hourOWC externals do not fail. Ive used their equipment for several years. Purchase 20-plus for myself, several more for my producer. However, the most recent purchase shows a different configuration of switches. A new sub-contractor? We shall see if the new external equals the past manufacture. And never expect customer service. Zero.

> 24 hourNice external drive, nicely finished case, quiet, good stand, comes formatted in Windows file format so must be reformatted to use with a Mac, so far it’s been trouble free. I’m a photographer so it’s primarily used to store photos and it’s acceptably fast in loading new stuff. I’m really very satisfied!

> 24 hourI bought this, expecting it would have some fairly fast, USB 3.2 transfer speeds, but was disappointed with the performance. The best it got was about 45mb/s. I mounted the same drive in another enclosure made by a different manufacturer, and it got speeds ranging from 110mb/s to 150mb/s. That tells me that this drive is no better than a 3.0 enclosure.

> 24 hourI like that this works like my Apple AirPort Extreme Time Capsule with the Time Machine software . It was very easy to set up and install. I now feel secure in knowing my data is backed up daily without fail. For those of us with less Computer skills (Moderate) it was great to find something easy to work with. Also looks good visually with my iMac.

> 24 hourMy WD drive died, no power, no warning. 7 year old drive and out of warranty. Bought the OWC case and transferred the drive, very simple and easy to do. Plugged it in and had my data back; backed all of the files.

> 24 hourOWC gone down. This was a replacement for a 7 year old OWC Mercury Elite Pro with faulty power. The new one not only gave me consistent semaphore timeout errors when trying to copy files (whether using Windows Explorer, SyncToy, or robocopy), somehow the partition became corrupted and disappeared. I had to re-initialize, re-partition and format the new HD. This was with a brand new WD 4TB Blue HD which I loaded with files via a USB dock while waiting for delivery of this unit. So it wasnt the HD, it wasnt my setup (which has been clean/solid for years) or a Windows problem. It was clearly this units problem. I also have an OWC Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 RAID enclosure which is built like a tank. Its been running for over ten years. Also, the on/off switch is not solid. It would take a light accidental bump from a cable or something to flip it.

> 24 hourGreat for 3.5 hard drives. 250mb/s performance. Good fit and finish. What cost it a star, no SMART support. I have USB storage adapters that do support SMART so it is possible. Updated: lack of smart cost actually prevented me diagnosing drive when it inevitably went bad. 3 stars.
