Its a little pricy but works great. I put some of this in my aqua clear filter and my water is clean and super clear. The shipping took over a month. The product is great, the sellers shipping arrangements are not. That and the price is why this gets 2 stars and not 5.

Yes, all the previous positive reviews are totally correct...within reason! With this dynamite mechanical/chemical filter youll elevate your murky aquarium water to a pristine and super transparent state....for an astronomical fee. I would absolutely not recommend Poly-Filter for hobbyists with chronic multi-tank syndrome. I currently own 4 aquariums and will probably rarely if ever purchase this amazing product again due to the exorbitant cost per tank. Another problem with Poly-Filter is its lack of longevity. I inserted this in my Penguin 150 Biowheel for my 20XH tank with only 9 fish and 2 nerite snails on a Wednesday evening; and by the following Monday morning, it was utterly exhausted...thats just ridiculously swift. In all the time Ive used various mech filter pads, Ive never had to discard them in LESS THAN A WEEK! Keep in mind this setup is only 2 months new, with well established bio filtration and not even overstocked. My former mech filter was finally exhausted and my tank was surviving only on bio filtration for almost a week, hence my current experiment with Poly-Filter. Yes this is absolutely a WONDER FILTER/CURE; but at its rate of exhaustion, Id be out $45 a month on this filter alone and thats just for 1 tank....NO THANKS. For the ongoing future, Ill somewhat ignore Poly-Filter and resume using Value Pack - Poly Filter Floss for $9 every 3+ months. I plan on eventually doubling the amount of aquariums I own thus increasing my need for the ultimate bang for buck products. Current Aquarium Setup 20XH Glass Aquarium Penguin 150 filter (currently awaiting an Emperor 280 upgrade from Amazon) 4 Platys 2 Nerite snails 2 Lyretail Swords 1 Red Tail Shark 1 Dwarf Gourami 1 Half Black/Silver Angel

This is fantastic- and you can even see what it is removing from the water!

Works ok. Took a while to get copper out of my tank.

It saved our tank! Despite testing and regular water changes and all the care a couple of hobbyists a year in could provide, something bothered our fish one morning. They were all gasping for air at the top of the tank when I got up. I did a quick water change (luckily, we had enough water already de-chloramined and ready to go) and I also put in this Poly-Filter pad. The fish recovered and we didnt lose any of them. The pad did soak up something, not exactly sure what, despite the color coding. Great product, we have worked hard to get our tank healthy for our tropical fish and a die off would have been devastating for everyone, especially the fish! Well be keeping these on hand and we plan to use them in a DIY protein skimmer project too. Also, hoping that these will help when we go on long trips and need to skip a water change. I got this after watching a Rachel OLeary video (and Aquarium Coop too) and am glad I tried it.

Ive been using these on and off for at least 30 years. While this looks like some simple mechanical filter pad, it is impregnated with non-toxic substances that will clean your tank of harmful chemicals and toxins, If you suspect heavy metals or other toxins in your tank, use this instead of carbon. The pads also remove copper, antibiotics, or other medications after treatment. The pad itself is about 1/2-in thick, so you can easily use scissors to cut to fit your canister or hang-on filters. It lasts a long time and can be recharged. After a month or so, rinse it under tap water (for saltwater tanks) or rinse in salted water (for freshwater tanks) to recharge. When the pad turns dark brown, it cant be recharged anymore.

This stuff works great to filter the bio waste in my reef tank. I use this with a tri-layer prefilter and get great results.

I have used Poly-Filter for years. It does exactly what it says it does and it does it perfectly. There is no other chemical filter material needed. And as a bonus, you can see for yourself that its working just by looking at it. As it removes contaminates it darkens in color. The only medium that tells you when to change.
