I have 20 hardwood ash trees I’m stripping bark off of and sanding smooth to use as poles for a pole barn. I bought this 4-pack figuring it was inexpensive enough that if they didn’t work then it wouldn’t be a big loss. I used three of these on my DeWalt Angle Grinder (it uses 4.5 inch discs) and they worked very well. The blue disc stripped the bark off a 20 foot ash tree in 30 minutes. The only issue is for the blue disc you have to flip over the flange nut when you put the blue disc on. It’ll tighten down and work just fine. For the other three discs that come in this pack, the flange nut will go on over the disc normally and you can tighten down like normal. The blue disc is shaped in a way where the flange nut won’t fit on normally. Just flip over the flange nut and tighten down. That blue disc eats through ash tree bark quickly. The finer toothed gold disc will smooth out the log nicely. Glad I bought this. And the discs don’t wear down quickly. They’re solid metal.

Id bought these to work on inside curves of oak and hickory bread bowls. I do most of the outside shaping with a Stihl arborists saw but a chainsaw is a blunt instrument for shaping the inside of a bowl. Before I got these I used the saw and chisels primarily to remove enough wood to get to the point where I could use an angle grinder. These will do the job with a lot of caution. These are aggressive discs and would appear to eliminate the need for sawing and chiseling the inside wood. Downside is lack of control. The blue one will consistently kick, the three bladed one tends to gouge and shred the wood and the gold one with curved slots kicks occasionally. The fourth is more aggressive than a Kutzall coarse disc but is tamer than the other three in terms of tendency to go flying off and gouging. There is a safety issue. Id initially wanted to run the two 4 inch x 5/8 center discs using my pneumatic grinder, but it lacks a guard so well just forget that. I dont think theyd do as much damage to the body as a jet engine or a boat propeller but they have potential to remove fingers and even hands. With one of my electric angle grinders I have no temptation whatsoever to try running these without the side handle. And I dont wear loose clothing using them. After a couple of hours of work swapping them back and forth doing bread bowl hollowing I notice that the blade with the spiral slots is already showing wear. So I doubt theyll last as long as hoped.

My grinder has a 7/8 arbor, only 2 will work for my grinder, if you have a 5/8 tool you can use them all as they come with a spacer to reduce the 7/8 to 5/8 also they are not all the same outside size, 2 are smaller like 3.5 so I am returning these.

Did a very good job initially carving hardwood but cutters dulled after just a few hours of use.

This product worked excellent for taking care of tree root issues. This is a great package for experimenting what works best for you. I have a Ridgid 18V 4-1/2 Angle Grinder Model R86047 with Clamp/Flange Nut that is too big for the shaping blades. I was able to use the flat blades with no issues. The shaping blades with recessed mounting area for the flange/clamping nut did not work as well. I did get to try the blue carving disc to easily grind down tree roots so my lawn mower wont hit them. The chain saw blade worked great, remember to oil it regularly and try not hitting the dirt or it will dull quickly. The 3 tooth carving disc worked wonders for cutting roots into the dirt. I did not try the other blades yet. I hope the manufacture considers making a larger flat spot or else I will have to see if I can find a smaller diameter flange nut for my grinder. I cannot comment on how long they will last, but minimize contact with the ground will go a long way.

A nice variety of discs for the money. The biggest issue was that the blue discs center was too small in diameter for my angle grinders mounting nut to be cinched tightly enough for safe use. Its hub is significantly smaller than the other disc hubs, so it was literally useless to me. However, the seller took care of me by finding the right size nuts and had them delivered very quickly. Id definitely buy from them again.

Ok, I ordered this set as Im taking dried tree limbs and shaping/cutting them into perches for our chicken coupe remodel. Im not kidding when I say for the first time in a LONG time, chucking these blades onto my angle grinder actually made me nervous. I do tons of metal fabrication but a disc nick to the finger here and there, ehh it hurts, you bleed, electrical tape and move on. With these suckers, shoot, your fingers or knuckles would be just a memory. They do a wicked fast job on wood. The three tooth cut off blade is really fast cutting and you can shape with it. Then I stepped up to the angled Cheese grader looking brass wheel and it is amazing at taking off bark on tree limb sized stuff. I havent played with the blue De-Barking or aggro-tooth file brass wheel yet but will give them a try, at least the tooth file one. The cheese grader is so fast and effective, Im not sure when I would to use the de-barking wheel. Seriously, when using these, be so cautious- light pressure and firm grip. Wear safety goggles. 2 things of note- First, the package came with English and German translation all over it, but a sticker Made in China. A little disappointing for sure. Second, below the item when shopping on the product page, Amazon typically has recommended purchases or products to compliment what you are shopping for. Why in heavens name are they not recommending chain-mail metal gloves????? seems a no brainer-
