> 24 hourI like this device, I’ve used it several times for home use. To use in a working truck shop, is not ideal. This should be known before it was bought. But this device led me right to the short which was draining my battery overnight. I would suggest this product for any small shop. Quality is just fine . If you treat your tools like your suppose to it will last a long time. My old set still works and I’m ordering the new set. Been 6 years I think. Read instructions and you’ll be fine.

> 24 hourThis unit is great at locating open circuits or broken wires. It can follow the wire to the location of the break. At this price, you couldn’t get more than 2 hours of labor testing for break or short at most shops. You can fix these things yourself if you try.

> 24 hourIve used this device consistently for two months, which I think is ample time to formulate an opinion. My experience up to this point always ended the same - I reverted to my own homemade tool and method of circuit diagnosis, which has been determined to be faster, more accurate; and the tool didnt cost $130.00. This probably works OK on cars, but not so well on trucks. This is not a criticism of the tool, but trucks contain much more metal in the chassis, which disrupts the ability of the receiver to follow the signal. The ability to track a short to ground is OK, but the device isnt capable of tracking a short to power. I was led to believe that the device could be used on an active circuit, which it cannot - the circuit must be completely isolated. This is understandable and the the only method that I truly trust, but this tool doesnt tell you much more than a low-impedance incandescent bulb will, which costs a lot less than $130.00. Other observations include: » The signal lead is too short - its necessary to manufacture and continually modify a hanger for the transmitter » The probe tips are too broad and are likely to create a connection problem where one did not exist before » Cheap in quality - this wouldnt last six months in a working shop » A short to power cannot be tracked » High-impedance - does not load the suspect circuit and will not identify a soft or intermittent fault » Self-piercing probes are dangerous when applied to modern vehicles - the use of these leads on the wrong circuit will definitely create a problem where one did not exist before DIY-types and beginners will probably like this device just fine, but experienced professionals will be disappointed.

> 24 hourThe short to ground feature worked for me to find a problem in my tail lamp circuit. Took me all of 5 minutes to set up the device and find the problem using the provided pieces. Works exactly like they said it would, it really saved me a ton of time tearing out wiring harnesses to find a shorted wire. Was pretty simple and easy to use. I’ve been a professional mechanic for 15 years and this is a serious time saver if you know what you’re doing.

> 24 hourFind short in auto circuits. Bought two units and neither remote unit off switch works. I have to unscrew cover until contact to batteries is broken. Probably intentionally overlooked by their inspector who was not hand strong enough to do the check. It basically impossible to contact the company.
