Greater than one weekI ordered this ladder for my two cockatiels to replace an older one that is in rough shape. I figured once the new ladder arrived Id toss the older one, but I did hang on to it for a few days. Good thing, too. When this pristine new ladder arrived I wasted no time putting it on top of their cage with the carnival cage topper for them to enjoy. Well, within one minute -- no kidding -- Peachfuzz chewed on one of the legs. Within a few days there were huge hunks gobbled out of one of the legs (just one, hes quite particular for some reason). The other bird, Zim, just sits and watches. Well, its only three weeks later. One leg is chewed through from about mid-point, and yesterday it fell off. Neither bird has chewed the rungs, which are still intact. For the cost of the toy I cant complain too much, but jeez, birds. Cant you keep from chewing it up for at least a whole month? This is not a failure of the product. Birds chew on things, and Id much rather spend $6 a month replacing a chew toy than have them discover my furniture. This was chewed on more than the other ladder, which is one of the colorful ones. Im not sure if that means anything or is a coincidence, but I may replace this with a brightly colored ladder or a plastic one, if I can find one this size. Too bad the concrete ones dont have concrete legs as well as concrete rungs. Bottom line: the product is fine, but dont expect longevity if your bird is a chewer.
