I’m always an adult medium - NO - these fit my 10 year old daughter. My skate coach and I are both skinny for adults and we are the XL! That’s so funny to me. Anyways… They are great pads. You can easily slide out of falls unless you are getting big air then you need the $100 knee pads for the cushioning.

BEEFY protection for my bees knees. Increases perceptions of invincibility. Protected my knees from a real fall like a CHAMP. I like em tight so they cut in to the back of my knee when I bend my legs, but hey, better than slipping off during a skid...

These are an excellent set of affordable, low impact pads that are great for those just getting in to roller sports, starting out with using pads, or wanting protection from ground level falls. However, if youre wanting protection from high impact situations such as knees slides or long falls to the elbows, then youll likely want to look for something with better protection. After roughly 4 months of hardcore use (7 hours a week minimum) skateboarding on ramps (between 4 and 12 ft tall), the knee pads have definitely stared to show signs of wear, with one pad having a snapped strap buckle (which is fixable with a little super glue but has broken more than once) and a cracked cap, and the other having rips exposing the liner. The liner is also compressed heavily towards the middle on both, and doesnt provide as good of protection as it did when it was new, but still works. I should point out that this is the result of heavy impacts at high speeds (knee sliding on a 10 ft vertical ramp, for example) so they will likely hold up pretty well if you plan on using them for less intense riding. The elbow pads have held up great, but admittedly havent taken nearly as much abuse as the knee pads. Theyve definitely help prevent some nasty swell-bow regardless. Both pads fit quite comfortably, but, like most pads, can ride down when sliding, so a set of gaskets or wearing tight clothing under neath them isnt a bad idea. Overall, I would easily recommend these to anyone look for a great set of light, comfortable pads to get started with. But, be prepared to replace these somewhere down the road, either with another set or something more heavy duty, such as 187 Killer Pad Pros.

This brand has a size chart but the actual pads dont even remotely match it. I ordered an XL set which they say will fit a 19 knee. My knee is 18, but the straps barely touched and it was way too tight even with them barely touching. It would have been a good fit for a 16 knee. I was also underwhelmed by the quality. The foam pieces inside were all folded over so they didnt conform well to the knee, like they werent even using a template to cut the foam or something. I thought theyd be better quality.

Just what my son needed for his new longboard. Though it isnt cool to wear them.

Its hard to find skate equipment thats large enough for grown men that still skate. Just not much of a market out there. Im 6-3 / 210 lbs, and the XLs are comfortable and provide plenty of coverage. They appear to be well made, and Pro Tec has been around a long time. Im sure there are better pads out there, but for the quality, fit, and comfort, especially at this price point, they get 5 stars from me.
