These are absolutely perfect. They measure 7 1/2 from wall and stand 7 tall. Takes up much less space then most water bowls and holds much more water. Spoil them and buy each dog their own pail. Two dogs could get a good drink if sharing. Allows plenty of splash room since you dont have to fill it totally full before there is plenty of water. Just the easiest to pick up. Throw out your old water bowls because these are the best. You will not miss the old bowls. These are just a pail with one flat side. They sit on the floor just fine. I have them on the kitchen floor.

The bucket is not flat on side as advertised. Looks more like a dent.

My Belgian Malinois is 4 months old and has already eaten through one pail. Even with her chewing, tugging, twisting, knocking about, this paid shows no damage! Yay! Ill be getting a bigger one for her other crate! Update 2016: years later of daily use this product is in great condition! Buying another one, 4 quart. Update 06/2017: the original pail continues to hold up well. No cracking at the lip after daily use of 3 years! Ive ordered additional pails (4 qt and 2 qt) for car crate and house crates. Still so very please with this product.

I should have bought the 4 quart pail instead. I change the water every day and a smaller bucket would have done a better job. I use the remaining water to water the plants but the pail is heavy when full.
