Reese Towpower 21347 8 Draw Bar

After working to determine the ideal tow height for my boat, I was disappointed in the options for tow mounts available at local hardware and automotive suppliers. Basically, they didnt have anything between a 3.25 and 5.25 drop. My measurements indicated that I needed something closer to a 4 drop for the proper towing level. While the others drop heights available arent THAT different, I was hoping to find something more precise. As is often the case, Amazon had the product I needed at a very reasonable price. The shipping was quick, and the product works exactly as intended. Specifically, it puts a Mastercraft X-10 trailer at the ideal height behind a 2008 Suburban LTZ (with the self-leveling rear air suspension).

The product shipped here is in fact the Reese #21347 However, Amazon has all of the WRONG Details Listed in the Description for the #21347 The actual Specs are: Length: 9.5 Drop: 8 Rise: 6.75 Mounting Hole: 1 Class: III Capacity: 5,000 Lbs Fits: 2 X 2 Hitch Receiver Here is what Amazon has in the Description (So Just Disregard, and go off the info I listed above) -Reese Towpower 21347 8 Draw Bar (Not Sure what this means - Perhaps 8 DROP) -Features a 6,000 pound gross towing capacity (Its Actually 5,000 Lbs) -Rise of 2-3/4 inch and drop of 4 inch to adjust trailer level (Its Actually 6.75 Rise & 8 Drop) -Shank length of 11 inch allows for more turning clearance from bumper to trailer frame (Its Actually 9.5) -Powder coated for a durable and weather resistant finish (OK - Amazon Got this one right!) I was hesitant to buy this, because I needed and 8 Drop, and the description stated that it was only a 4 drop. So I wasnt sure what I was going to get (the #21347 or some other receiver with a 4 drop) I had to take a gamble, but it worked out OK.....Hopefully, this clarifies for others what you are getting!

Got my utility trailer almost level on my stock Ram 2500.

I think the quality is good for the price. There are better made draw bars for higher prices but, the difference would be mainly cosmetic. From the photos, it appears that the Curt brand is angled on the vertical part. Im not sure why this would be an advantage but, its worth noting if that makes a difference to you. This item has labels/stickers that even cover the hitch pin hole. These labels are easily removable. The easiest and neatest way to remove them is to heat the draw bar to around 100F which is not too hot to handle and will not affect the powder coating. At this temperature, the labels will peel off easily without leaving a residue behind. This heating can be done a numbers of ways such as a heat gun, hair dryer, oven, inside a hot automobile or even in direct sun on a hot day. Dont use a direct flame and dont heat to a temperature that will damage the coating. Around 100F is all that is required.
