> 24 hourMy iPad screen broke. I contemplated buying a new iPad than a replacement because the screen replacement was a bit expensive. I realized I was also broke so instead of a new iPad I bought the replacement instead, it was worth it. Now I have an iPad good as new.

> 24 hourI had an iPad Pro (3rd gen) that got dropped and the screen shattered. At the time replacement screens were more than half the cost of new, so I just stuck it in a closet. Fast forward to today, and I just got done replacing the screen with minimal issues. I will say that’s shattered screen is a complete headache to remove. I used a 300W heat gun and just spent lots of time delicately separating it, shard by shard. That’s the big test of your ability- if you’re able to be slow slow slow with heat and loosening, you can do this. There are other perils- I snapped off one of the ambient light sensors that attach to the back of the glass. I’m not sure that this makes a lot of difference, but that’s the only bit that isn’t perfect. I’ll take it. The instructions included are terrible. I used an online tear down guide from someone else. Given all the time I had this iPad in the closet waiting for coats to lower, I might’ve been smart to replace the battery while I was there. Ah well.
