RIDGID 29993 227S Stainless Steel Pipe Reamer Tool, 1/2-inch to 2-inch Inner/Outer Reamer

Didnt realize how heavy and well built this thing is, if your job requires alot of deburring and chamfering of various pipe diameters, this universal tool can make you shine in front of your maestros.

This is a beautiful looking reamer. But if you are used to working with Rigids excellent professional plumbing tools you might be shocked at the quality of this Chinese made piece of junk. The reamer is made from two parts: 1) The inside is a nicely machined hardened steel conical shape for reaming the inside diameter on one end and the outside diameter on the other end, 2) A machined aluminum extrusion handle. The problem is that the steel is very poorly pressed fit into the aluminum extrusion. When mine came the two pieces were loose and the first time I used it the steel just popped right out the aluminum. I thought this was some sort of feature that I didnt understand but no, its just a very poorly made tool. What I did to fix the problem was to set the reamer down on concrete and hammer the hell out of the top edge in order to deform the aluminum and hopefully retain the hardened steel core. It failed the first several times but eventually I got it to stay pretty well. This is not what you expect to have to do with any $65 tool let alone a rigid plumbing tool. Eventually I was able to use the tool to ream several hundred large diameter aluminum tubes. It worked fairly well but takes a lot of muscle. Sometimes it is better to grip the reamer in a pipe stand and rotate the work rather than the tool. I did not see anything else on Amazon designed to do the same thing or anything that looked nearly as good but I cannot recommend this tool, particularly at this price.

Really heavy duty, but for 1/2 might buy the smaller one but it works as described.

This is a time saver for cleaning tubing. Very easy to use and great durability.

works great on my steel pipe after I cut them with my chop saw. Like it as its small enough to fit in my tool bag.

I bought this specifically for reaming the outer edges of PVC pipe. This tool does a great job of deburring the ends of the pipe, so long as the pipe is smaller than 2. This was VERY disappointing! I typically only use 1.5 & 2 pipe for pool systems and I was very happy thinking that this one tool would work for all of my needs. The first day I only used 1.5 and it worked perfectly all day. The next day I was using 2 pipe and thats when I realized that 2 PVC doesnt fit into the tool. The tool and the pipe are exactly the same size, so it doesnt ream the pipe AT ALL! And even further disappointing is the fact that they dont make a larger sized reamer. Hey Ridgid, why dont you make this tool 2-1/2 instead of 2-1/8????
