> 24 hourThis continuity tester is easy to use to test my grounding products. I like that it uses 2 AAA batteries, which are easy to install. And I also like that you can plug the end of the wire into the side of the tester to test the wire itself. Great product.

> 24 hourIf you do any kind of electrical work, you must have one of these. The professional use them so if youre a home DIYer, you should too. Its invaluable to let you know if youve done the wiring work correctly or if youre trying to track down a problem. Like me, I just bought a house and used this to find that whoever had been doing work on the electrical here, didnt know what they were doing. I was able to track down some issues and correct them before a fire started or someone was electrocuted. Always keep one of these in your tool box.

> 24 hourI replaced my old one with this one as the case on my old one was broken. I tested it on all my sockets and it worked as expected even mis wired one and it caught it. Every home should have one of these they could save your life I use mine when I’m RVing too.

> 24 hourI needed an extra receptacle tester because I always misplace mine. This one works, and does what it should and so I am giving it 5 stars. One thing it lacks, which I didnt notice before ordering is a gfci tester button. You can get one that includes this feature from other name brands for a lower price. Ill keep this one in my toolbox but probably order one that has the gfci button.

> 24 hourThis very handy tool does an excellent job at indicating whats what with electrical plugs. I am so glad that I found it, as it saved my bacon when I used it to make sure a socket was cold that I thought I had flipped the breaker on so I could change it, only to find, after plugging this grand device in, that the plug was still hot. Whew!

> 24 hourThis tester is a must have for any homeowner. Dont rely solely on a NCV tester when dealing with outlets. This will let you know at a glance if your outlet has power and whether its wired correctly. This is as basic as you can get for an outlet tester but most of the time thats all you need. It doesnt have a GFCI test rip button (although it will test a GFCI outlet just fine). Ive had one of these in my toolbox for many years. Recently the ground prong broke loose so it was time to get a new one. This one did the trick.

> 24 hourThese are great for the experts and for the homeowner, even if you know nothing about electric circuits. Simply plug into the socket and see what lights up. If you get two yellow lights all it fine, if not, the chart on it will tell you whats wrong. Its that simple. Test every outlet in your home, top and bottom, inside and outside, some can be wired right, some might be wrong. Or just use it to see if you have power to the outlet. A book from your local home store can teach you how to wire them up if your a handy do it yourself person, or at least be able to tell a repair person what the problem is and let them correct it. Great tool but not a great deal of money

> 24 hourThe lights are red and amber therefore the label should be the same but the amber part is yellow and that washes out under fluorescent light and I can hardly see what it is with my old eyes. But under either led lights here I can make out the yellow. If they used amber ink then it would be no problem. I will have to mark it with a sharpie while I can still make it out before it fades more. This is an exact copy of a 30+ year old one I have around here somewhere, but cannot find right now, except for the label. On the older one they used amber ink. 2 ambers good, anything else something wrong. I only tried 2 of the combinations and they worked. Every homeowner or handy person should have one of these.

> 24 hourIt pains me to have to rate this socket tester low. Socket testers like these have been around for quite a while. There are major brands that produce these with the full pedigree of safety and certification. The circuit inside is not that complicated and anyone technically minded can copy it on their own. What makes a difference is when a manufacturer builds with a rugged case, the ability to test GFCI receptacles for proper wiring, and, most importantly, takes the extra step to get certification for safety from the UL or equivalent. Look, if youre interested in a socket tester like this, it means you want to know that wiring was done correctly and safely. So you also want to know your tester was independently tested and certified that it was built well, and built for safety. A tool to test for safety should itself be shown to be safe, right? This hasnt. Its not like we dont have alternatives. Rugged, effective, safe, and more complete (with a GFCI test button) socket testers are readily available from major brands like Klein Tools right here at Amazon, and for less cost. When this review was written (April 2023) this less featured, uncertified for safety socket tester for 25% more expensive than the Klein Tools tester. This doesnt seem right. I cant bring myself to recommend this socket tester to you. I did try it, my wiring is proper and it confirmed that, but I dont know what this tester will do when wiring is improper, either now or over time. I still cant believe this tester doesnt have UL certification, but that seems to be the case. If I find differently Ill up date this review, so come back and have a look. But for now it seems better to pass this one up. Why 2-stars instead of one star? Because this socket tester seems about as rugged as the competition, and it did work just like the competition on my known-good wiring, so its not a total write-off. One last note: you are reading a Vine review, which means this product was sent to me without my having to pay for it. I never believed Vine reviews, I felt people would say anything to get free stuff. The Vine program, at least for me, is a little different: I only get what I go out of my way to ask for, and everything I get is reported as income to me, so Ill have to pay income taxes at what will probably be reported as list price. I recently bought a Klein Tools socket tester, I even made use of its GFCI test button, I misplaced it, and I wanted another. Then I saw this socket tester was available for review. The price listed was higher than for a Klein, it was less featured than a Klein, and it doesnt seem like it ever was passed by the UL as a safe device to use. Hopefully, youll learn from my experience and youll check to see what other options you have.
