Red dyes are tricky. They tend to come out pink, no matter how much you use. This one does come out more saturated than most. Youre never going to get the bright red that comes with coloring synthetic fibers BEFORE weaving or knitting, but this comes closer than most. (To get brighter youd need Procion dyes).

I added salt and vinegar to the bath and it seemed to work better than with just the dish detergent.

Very easy to use and apply. Maintaining temperature during the process is the biggest hurdle. Do not be careless with prep or handling, this will stain pretty much anything it touches.

Wanted to dye the black and red steering wheel cover in my pickup which had sun fade kind of badly. THOUGHT I could maybe apply this with like a sponge and it would color the material. NOPE. Ended up removing the cover and putting in in a sink with enough hot water to cover it. TOOK WHOLE BOTTLE to start noticing color change. Ended up leaving it in there for abuot 36 hours. Finally colored the red parts dark enough to satisfy me, and didnt noticeably affect the black. Sadly a duplicate steering wheel cover would have cost only half again as much as this bottle of dye. BUT, the color on that one faded far faster than I was happy about. HOPEFULLY this will last a lot longer. In any event, it did what it was intended to do, if not as easily as my lazy ass had hoped. lol

I bought this to dye my outdoor patio cushion covers that are a basic light beige. I bought three bottles of dye which was more than enough. didnt work at all. I have always had great success with RIT products so im not sure what went wrong here. Perhaps its the synthetic fabric, which is WHY i bought this dye in the first place....

We did synthetic chef caps. We soaked it over the time suggested because we wanted a deep red. We didnt get deep red, but it was definitely red and not pink. In the photo, Im showing a regular red in the EASY button. (1) shows we ended up with something a bit more maroon, but still okay. (2) we were impressed that the dye didnt eat through the light synthetic mesh and also gave it good color. We tried non-synthetic dye on a test cap, and that didnt take to this mesh at all. (3) Would have been nice to have gotten this color.. and not sure why only the fuzzy piece got it. Overall, worked fine.
