You cannot go wrong with this chip. Make sure you have the compatible hardware before ordering. This chip is blazingly fast. On FreeBSD this thing absolutely screams on the benchmarks. I have gotten 40 GigaBytes per second not GigaBit GigaBytes when using the pcie adapter card for both read and write . I have a few of these and they have served me well for years. Samsung delivers big time on this one. Oh and for those of you at home keeping score this drive is made in Thailand.

I purchased this on Mar 2023 because It was time to upgrade my iMac 2017 5k 27 model. I bought 1tb 970 evo plus and sintech adapter for iMac. I dont need to update Samsung firmware because it was already up to date. I follow the instruction of the IFIXIT. It works great and now I feel I have new iMac. you can see the test photo that I attached. iMac 2017 model support PCIE Gen3 not gen4. So this is almost maximum speed for this iMac. Dont need to go Gen4 NVMe samsung if you have 2017 iMac or older. This is it!!

This was the perfect SSD upgrade for my 2017 HP Spectra 360 laptop. I ran out of space on my 256GB SSD and wanted a reliable and faster version of the next generation 1TB SSD - this was the perfect size and price. Easy to upgrade by simply creating an external drive image of the old one and then installing this new one in place of the old one and restoring the old drive image onto the new SSD. My laptop didnt even know it was down for less than an hour to complete the entire operation. It rebooted with space to spare.

This is actually my second 970 plus. First one I got on some Cyber Monday deal last year so I could throw my AAA games on it. Decided to get a second one to install Win 10 on because of how well the first one performed and nearly eliminated any sort of load time. Hardware install took all of about 10 min due to the mounting locating and from how big a 2080 is. Mobo is an Asus z370 hero 11. Installing windows took 3 days, or about 15 hours of format-install-download drivers-restart-boot loop-format-install-downloard drivers-restart-boot loop...and on and on and on. So for some reason NVME will not take a windows install the same way an SSD or HDD will. Not that simple. Ended up having to use CMD while in the windows advanced boot options/system restore menu to delete all the hidden windows partitions from all my hard drives that have ever had windows installed on them ( I have 5 drives total, 2 hdds, 1 ssd, 2 nvme) and disable all SATA ports in BIOS so only the NVME would be recognized.

Popping this baby into my system and getting it up and running took no time at all. The longest part was cloning my old SSD onto this one, once it was ready it had no problems being recognized and booting up. The time from pressing the power button to being booted and ready to log in is about 12-14 seconds for me.

I installed this M.2 SSD into an Intel NUC PC with a mechanical drive. It made a huge difference in performance. Now the PC is not laggy anymore.

Im not sure why the price varies so much on these, Im not a super hardware nerd but I try. I found these when I was searching for a way to clone my C drive without having to reinstall windows and lose all my programs. I bought one of these, installed it, used the proprietary Samsung drive cloning tool, and have been happy with the results ever since. I liked it so much I bought two more, one for a friend going off to Japan with the navy for his gaming laptop, and another one for my desktops other m.2 slot. Im not sure I could be any happier with them to be honest
