My attempt at backing up a 10.9 GB file to an older Portable SSD took about four minutes. Then I backed up the same 10.9 GB file to this small Portable SSD and it only took about a minute and a half! Another: I backed up the files to the old Portable SSD and the remaining space is 634 GB. Then I backed up the same files to this small Portable SSD: the remaining space is 715 GB! This small Portable SSD is much better than I expected!

Purchased a Beelink mini computer. Added this external drive as a backup to data stored on the mini computer. Plenty fast enough. Recommend

Works great, had some issue formatting it so It would work with my Mac but had no issues after that, also you don’t need to use Samsungs software to set a password

Just to get the good fundamentals addressed first, yes, this external SSD is overall fantastic. Even with its protective shell, its an easy every day carry. I′ve transferred over 400GB to it already and its crazy fast, while never warming up too much. The cable it comes up with is really nice quality and stays connected without easily pulling out. It′s already serving me very well as a back up for my phone. Now lets talk about the app, which, unfortunately, we cant divorce from the product itself since the app is what allows you to encrypt and rename the SSD and update the firmware. It′s terrible. From the confusing two similarly named apps on the store, to the lag, to the keyboard that vanishes when trying to type in the password (at least on Android), to the annoying disconnection error messages that tell you to reboot your phone, to the barebones operations inside the app. You can still use it well enough to do the jobs you need it to and use a file manager separately, but its such a hostile user experience that I could only recommend people use the app after thorough warnings on what to expect and thats pretty unacceptable from a major manufacturer like Samsung. Overall though, a great backup option for people who want local storage with peace of mind.

Only had this a few days. I ran some Crystal Disk Mark speed tests. Update. I feel like I have to clarify my speed tests. Ignore the text at the bottom of each speed test image capture as i mistakenly confused the connections I was testing. The 32 MB/s results came from a USB 2.0 connection. The 44 MB/s tests were done with a 3.0 USB connection. The 465 MB/s came through my USB 3.1 connection and the 980 MB/s speeds were accomplished with USB C 3.2 Gen 2 connection. Thats very close to the drives claimed speeds of 1000/1050 MB/s. The last test (for a comparison) was done on my 500 GB NVME M.2 drive on the motherboard. Its a not particularly high end Crucial Patriot P1 but that drive is still considerably faster than this portable is (about 50% quicker on reads). Still Im happy with the performance of this T7 portable drive. All tests were done on the same Windows 10, Ryzen based PC. An MSI Tomahawk board. Note how similar the read and write results are to one another. This is not the case with my motherboards Patriot NVME M.2 drive, writes are about 33% slower than reads. I did not try to boot any OS from the T7. It looks and feels tough. Its really tiny, about the size of a credit card but thicker.. The USB C connector is very tight and will not fall out. They give you two very short (maybe 15 inch) cables. One has a type C to A connection end on it and the other is a type C to C cable. Has a nice soft blue activity light on the front of the drive. No external power adapter is needed. No carrying case is supplied. Probably should have gotten the 2 TB version but that was pretty pricey.

Really fast and works really well for my MacBook Air For some reason every time I take it out of my charger bag it has a lot of dust but other than that it works perfectly fine
