This product is marketed as a drive that Photographers can use to store/edit photos. I always format my drives with the Encryption option in Macs Disk Utility, but this drive will not mount or format with Encryption. I contacted SanDisk customer support. They said it does NOT come with an encryption option; however, they advised that I could use their Secure Access app. The problem with that is that Secure Access does not work with any outside program-- and does not work with catalogues like Lightroom-- so there is no way to secure a working Lightroom catalogue (or files) with this drive. The drive is blazing fast, sure. But if the drive is lost or stolen, then there is an un-protected copy of every image Ive photographed and sold floating around in someone elses hands. That makes this drive a total failure in my book.

I like the small size, and rugged coating. The device setup easily, and the secure encrypted storage was easy and quick to enable.
