Good, necessary element to the Kerdi system. If you find the grate is extremely difficult to slide in the shaft (which I have for every one) slice off the tabs with a utility blade such that the grate will sit in the cylinder with friction but will not slide down freely and make your install more difficult. I set the bottom flange in thinset and push it tight to the pan and then build up under the grate with thinset and seat it down (need full support). Make sure to protect the grate with tape. I cover it with clear packing tape, flip the grate over and cut away all the excess. I make sure to then fully seat all the tape around the edge. Spend some time and make sure it doesn’t overhangs and stick into the void where the grout will meet the grate. Remove it at the end after grout.

I got this because it looked easy to install and it was. To snap the ring to the drain and then push it down into the wide ring to the exact level to need it at. None of this spin the drain stuff when your tiling. Put this in as your tiling to get the best fit possible. Super easy

Received package but nothing in the package.

I got it in, but it wasnt all that easy. When it came to putting the tile around it it was a real pain in the &%$. It looks beautiful and In am happy with the quality and the finished project. If you know what you are doing it will be easier than it was for me.
