Never installed a drain but this was easy.

Needed ABS version and is hard to find locally. This is designed to use with Schluter Shower Pan and can be used without. Based on what OATEY and others drains can offer, this is better and well worth the cost, (which is not much more) This version is for use with existing ABS 2 inch drain pipe, but there are other versions and also a PVC version if that is what you have.
