SCOUT Errand Boy - Extra Large Lightweight Utility Tote with Breakaway Zipper - Collapsible Grocery and Market or Beach Tote

This particular Scout bag has lasted 4 years of college. It holds so much. My daughter used it for move in. It folds completely flat to fit under the mattress. As a freshman she would bring dirty clothes home in it. Now she literally just uses it as luggage as her apartment is too small to keep a big suit case. I now give the Scout Errand Boy as a high school graduation gift.

I have to hand it to this company, they do a nice job of talking up their products, to the point of seemingly convincing people that they got a good deal. This is made of a plasticky woven material similar to an IKEA bag; in fact, its sort of a glorified IKEA bag... which costs exactly 1/10th of the price. It does stand up sort of. I bought some of those flexible cutting board things and made a stiff bottom so that it would have a little more structure. The zipper is a cheap nylon one, and for some reason it just goes down the middle of the top without attaching at the ends... so the bag doesnt really close, and its fiddly to pull the two sides together to zip it up. Apparently the extra dollar it would have cost to put a proper zipper all the way around would cut too deeply into their roughly $55 profit on this bag, which could not possibly cost more than $5 to produce. If Id paid $20 for this, Id be happy. $60 is straight up highway robbery.

I bought a couple of these to move a child’s belongings, but I keep finding used for them. Used as a beach bag, it had more than enough space for towels, clothes, etc. for me and my three children. I can even fit a puddle jumper and an inflated child size donut shaped floatie in there.

I’ve used this bag for a few month now. It’s a great carry everything beach/boat bag. Also doubles as a good spot for my toddler to play. So far I’ve fit towels for 4 people, toddler life vest, dog stuff, drinks and still had room.
