So, we moved into our house just about a year ago. At that time, as part of inspection, the septic tank was pumped. I use these, one per each of our two toilets, twice a month, because both of us use the bathroom (and toilet paper-Scott only) frequently due to chronic medical conditions. We also have family visiting us frequently. That being embaressingly added here, we have had NO issues or backups or smells. I also like the fact that it is made in USA! Highly recommended product. It smells like soy sauce to me, but the package warns you to avoid breathing it and prolonged skin contact (for one of the previous posters commenting on the smell). Just wash hands immediately, or wear gloves. Please DONT leave it within reach of children or pets!!!

Ive used up my order, 12 months worth. Ive had no septic problems. The problem with rating a product like this is knowing if it prevented or helped to prevent a problem. Prior to my purchase Id not had a septic issue in 20+ years, but I thought what the heck it cant hurt. It didnt hurt... but Ive no way of knowing if it helped. Hence the 3 star rating.
