> 3 dayI used this at my house and was only able to trace 2 of my 5 coax outlets. On 3 of them it didnt work at all. Perhaps this is because theres a splitter or something in the wall, but either way I was very disappointed that it didnt work. Fortunately, I just played a guessing game and correctly figured out which wires went to which of those 3 outlets, but that was with no help from this tester. Waste of money to me. Update: I originally gave this product one star, but Im now changing it to 3 stars. I talked to a Verizon tech, and he said these types of testers wont work if theres a splitter involved. I cant confirm it, but my guess is that there is a splitter in my walls somewhere. I wont punish this product with a one star review if its not the products fault. Im not giving it 5 stars either. In the end, it didnt serve my purpose, and Im out twenty-eight bucks. I could send it back, but its more trouble than its worth, so Ill just keep it for a day in the future. The one coax outlet that did work worked very well, so I guess its not all bad.

19-11-2024My house was wired with 3 different groups of coax (satellite, cable, security cams), but not very well labeled. This tool made it a breeze to track down which cables at the panel in the basement went to which jacks, and especially tracing down which of the several cables in the junction box outside the house went where. Just plug the 4 color coded ends onto the jacks you want to trace down, then head to the other end of the cable and plug in each cable until a green light shows up next to one of the colored dots, and you have IDd those 4 jacks. Repeat until everything has been identified and you are done--couldnt be easier. I knocked off a single star because the color coded caps store in a foam piece that is separate from the tool itself, which almost guarantees they will get separated at some point. If the manufacturer had molded storage spots for the caps into the body of the tool itself, it would get an easy 5 stars even if it cost an extra few bucks.
