22-11-2024Perfect for a home network - well priced, decently made, and took me to the next level with my home networking equipment. Easy to install and sturdy. There is a horizontal brace that can be top or bottom mounted depending on what you have installed, which will give the rack the proper squared up dimensions to install standard width network equipment in. Keep in mind that this rack has some flex in the vertical side panels which will disappear once a couple of items are installed in it. Check out Budget Nerds YouTube channel for a nice little primer on this setup; Tom Lawrence also has a nice video on his Lawrence Systems YouTube channel called DIY Home Rack Build which goes over some great options for modular keystone patch panels. I installed this on a stud framed wall in my basement, a work in progress. Ill likely sheath the stud wall in plywood to give me flexibility to mount other networking equipment as needed.

> 3 dayIt installs with the hose 16” in center studs. I don’t know why these are so expensive. This 6u one was the only one out there that was good value. It’s just a piece of stamped steel that got folded and painted. The ground screw is good to have, because I provided for a ground wire to my main panel. It only comes with 3 sets of cage nuts though.

19-11-2024The unit was not square with the rails being wider than 19 inches. I had to unscrew the brace and bend unit back to square. Then I had to mive the brace back because it was in the way and wouldnt allow a 3 inch unit to be mounted correctly in the first slot. I had to drill new holes and temount the brace. Additionall the unit is heavy so make sure it gets mounted to studs in the wall and do not use the included anchors in wall material that is not reinforced.

> 3 dayIve spent a decade designing and building various sized racks of computer equipment. I didnt need much for my home network setup but also didnt want to pay an arm and a leg for one either. This was super affordable, had U locations on both rails, included mounting hardware, and is more than sturdy enough. One complaint is the support rail used on top or bottom of rack does cut into the top/bottom U location, so if mounting 3 2U servers, it likely would give you issues.

> 3 dayThis bracket is strong and well built. I gave it three stars because it has a proprietary setup for the screws holding equipment in. There is a clip that wedges into holes in the bracket. Once that is in you can screw the included screws into that clip. They dont give you enough clips or screws for the number of devices this will hold. I dont know where I would get more clips anyway.
