I thought this would be the PMPBOK for life management. But this was authors life story + PMBOK. Might be a great gift for someone you want to introduce project management , or the PMP exam. This book will get them interested in both . But for someone who knows PMBOK and PMP this felt like a repetitive grind. I applaud the authors effort , but the target customer for this product is not me , may be the title of the book has to be changed.

I have always been one of those people who wanted to better my life, but didnt know how to approach such a monumental task. Instead of looking at my life as a total project, I would tackle different individual areas of my life as needed. I would often improve the area of focus, but other areas of my life would then suffer. If I focused too much on my career, my personal relationships suffered and I had no time for me. If I focused too much on my personal relationships, my career (and sales income) suffered. So, my life has been a constant struggle to improve while really only operating in emergency management when one aspect of my life was in serious trouble. I knew immediately, upon reading the description of this book, that I was about to learn something that could help me improve my life as a whole. Once I identified the goals I wanted to attain, I was able to begin work on a plan to attain those goals. I now take action every day to get farther along in my project and closer to achieving the level of success I want and deserve. I have set benchmarks that help me to monitor my progress, and I feel like I am progressing with each new day. If I hadnt found this book, I would have continued doing things the way I had always done them. Taking what I have learned in this book, I am more optimistic about 2010 (and beyond) than I have been in a very long time!

This is not your fathers project management book. Nor is it one of those vapid self-help books that mostly just leave you empty with no real guidance. Joe captures your attention immediately with insightful anecdotes that lets you know he practices what he preaches. The meat of the book is in how Joe describes the sometimes unapproachable project management techniques in a way that allows them to work in your life. I can tell you that this is a book I will keep within reach so that I can stay on track with my personal lifelong projects. I highly recommend this book for anyone and everyone. I personally bought several copies to give out as Christmas gifts.

This is a superb book, and the author should get an award for it. The book takes the reader through a project where the project is the readers life in a year. What project is more important? Along the way you create a project binder with various documents in it. Going through that process is challenging and revealing. This book would be great for high-school, college, graduate, and professional level courses on project management, and also other fields like logic, self-help, financial planning, and logistics.

The Lifelong Project is the solution to a question I ask myself daily--what if today were the last day of my life? As a person in their twenties, I often struggle with the giant picture of my entire life, but I still dream about someday. I have a feeling that someday is in the same place where the grass grows greener. So why not bring someday to today? By using project management techniques, this book displays how to accomplish giant goals by starting with a single step. Take a step everyday for one year and youll find yourself in a different place, Id imagine. What I love most about this book is Mr. Phillips own story of his Lifelong Project: he isnt just talking, hes sharing from experience. Aside from analyzing the vision, mission, and scope of your project, he mentions other things that will help you along the way--passion, forgiveness, and meditation. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is in the same place today, that they were last year.

This book is a great guideline on how to plan out your goals, step by step, and actually follow through on them. This doesnt just apply to the big goals in life, like buying a house, losing weight, or starting a business; this applies to *every* aspect of your life. If you have a hard time getting motivated, or you just dont know where to begin, this is the book for you.

I recently had the opportunity to hear the author,Joseph, speak in Indianapolis. His talent in understanding and presenting project management skills works well towards implementing these concepts towards your personal goals, step by step, as you are the project leader of your life! Thinking as a one year project with a deadline of how you want your life to look differently in 365 days is a motivational, manageable timeline. Constant evaluation, tweeking, engagement and accountablility support will aid in making progress toward these established goals. I enjoyed his presentation and quickly sailed through the first 5 chapters in 2 days! I have started a binder to document the various segments of the project and set up accountablility partners! I highly recommend this book and Mr. Phillips as a speaker.

Mr. Phillips has written a practical how-to guide for getting things--any things--done. Hes absolutely correct when he states that its not about goal setting but goal achieving. Each chapter not only provides practical advice on how to complete your goals but also includes hands-on exercises to step you closer and closer to your personal finish line. The beauty of The Lifelong Project is that its principles apply to any project, whether youre creating a computer program, getting a new job, losing weight, planning a vacation, completing a degree, or building a birdhouse. If its important to you, it deserves your attention, and Mr. Phillips guidelines provide an easy, step-by-step process for completion. He even insists that one of the last steps is to celebrate your completion! This book is perfect for anyone, no matter what age or status in life. If youve been meaning to get around to that one thing youve always wanted but never seemed to have the time to do, The Lifelong Project can help you start and, more importantly, complete it.

After reading the first 3 pages I knew this book would be my new Bible, It is a must read for everyone and can bring a clear plan on how to improve your business or personal life, after the first few chapters my fears and anxieties that have held me back for years seemed like nothing and for the first time in years I have set some goals and on my way to achieving them.
