24-11-2024Felt like the umbrella was about to come apart. When the wind (mild wind) blew, it felt like there was some tightening opportunities. Used for 2 days and bought one from the pharmacy.

> 3 dayUse it all the time! Only wish would be for it to be a bit bigger but dries quickly, fits in my handbag, and looks cute.

> 3 dayTotes Sunguard One Touch Auto Open This is a nice umbrella. Running around Phoenix and northern Arizona recently, there are a lot of people who use umbrellas as parasols. This one works well for that. It is a bit heavier than I like (thus the one star deduction), but otherwise works great for both rain and sun. And its cute. Even the button is pink. It is automatic to open, but not fold. I scrutinize things more when I know I am going to write a review and one thing that caught my attention is the plastic thing to pull on to shut the umbrella. It is perhaps a stupid thing to comment on, but some engineer did a good job designing it. It is on the larger side, concave all the way around and is really easy to get a grip on to pull the umbrella closed.

> 3 dayThis umbrella folds up to a compact size but provides ample coverage in a big downpour. I can stick in my handbag or backpack and always be prepared. I love the water repellent fabric, makes for quick dry times. I would absolutely recommend.

> 3 dayIve used Totes umbrellas for years, but keep losing them because I always insisted on getting black ones like everyone else. The leopard spot print is a great alternative, and so much easier to find in the sea of black umbrellas. The auto-open and -close function works smoothly, the action is springy without being too tight, and the umbrella is lightweight. The handle is pretty short, so I wouldnt expect to share this umbrella with someone I wasnt comfortable snuggling up to. I like that the velcro closure is much wider than the usual little strip, so this umbrella ends up closing more completely and securely. I havent had a chance to use this in heavy winds, so Ill update this review if I have any problems. It doesnt seem especially heavy-duty, so Im not sure it would be my first choice for Chicago or other windy places. But for travel and occasional use, Im very glad to keep this on-hand.

> 3 dayI own a number of Totes umbrellas -- they all work pretty much the same (push-button handle that opens the umbrella, attached Velcro strap to keep it closed). This one claims to have a SunGuard feature that blocks 98% of UV rays and keeps the user cooler -- this means you can use this on sunny days as well as rainy ones (a nice plus!). I cant really comment on the claim of protection from UV rays, but I did try this out on my very hot deck and it did provide some relief from the glare of the sun. The high humidity here in Maryland is a problem, though, but if you live in a dryer part of the country, this should really help on hot days. But what really intrigued me was the claim that this umbrella stays four times dryer than ordinary umbrellas, meaning you wont get wet climbing into your car with a dripping umbrella. Since it hasnt rained here in weeks, I had to test this indoors, in the shower. I compared it to one of the regular Totes umbrellas I own. And surprisingly, this SunGuard umbrella definitely stays dryer. Water runs off it beautifully, and when I pulled it out of the shower, the umbrella didnt feel wet to the touch at all. In contrast, my older Totes umbrella definitely felt wet when I pulled it out of the shower (and it stayed damp for quite some time). This is a huge plus, since youll be able to close this one up soon after stepping out of the rain, without the dripping mess. I havent had a chance to actually test this umbrella in actual rain, so Ill update this review once that happens. But my guess is, it will do beautifully! This is a great umbrella for both rain and sun at a very reasonable price (the tag on the handle listed it at $10). I highly recommend it.
